My first time in UC was in late May this year. I was going back to London after being in Boston for only a week after being on holiday in France the week before. I'd just flown Air France for the first time ([:(] What a bloody nightmare!) and this was going to be my first VS flight (if anyone's read my other posts they'll know I decided to switch airlines this year)

I was going on a work event so had a PE ticket and was delighted with the dedicated check in... no sooner did I get through security No.1 (you know - the 'are you a criminal' and 'are you carrying guns with you') than a bubbly VS hostess walk up and said "best check in over there (pointing to UC) as your guaranteed an upgrade, we're upgrading everyone today) :D

From there onwards it was great, nice food, nice company (as I hate flying the crew were ace) and as it was a night flight I even put on the pyjamas even though in doing so I felt like a bit of a prat being the only one who did!

I've flown PE since then which I still think is great, but have taken advantage of the low J fares (I think it's Z) this Christmas by treating myself to the night leg in UC and only the return in PE.

Having flown AA and BA Business Classes the VS UC is by far the nicest of the lot!

My first UC was in 1995 when work required me to commute to Boston every two weeks for approx 3 months. First trip was in PE, then after spending a flight pinned into my seat by a 'must be at full recline no matter what' merchant (in those days PE did seem tight with the person infront fully reclined), I paid (£1200 if I recall) to upgrade my return flight to UC.

That was it! In those days UC was a big seat with 50" pitch, none of your J2000 let alone UCS, but, I have very fond memories and must have done at least a dozen round trips during that summer.

At the time compared to the opposition; BA Clud World, United Connoisseur (as it was called then) and Continental whatever, there was simply no comparison. Remember in 1995 a Sony Video Walkman was high-tech - now I read threads where people complain about Nova - you don't know you are born!!

Cheers

My first Upper Class trip was around 95/96 - it was January, (at least that much I can remember!), and up until that point I had only ever travelled Economy on Virgin. I had a full J ticket, bought by the company, flying to SFO for a total of 2 days. Maybe they figured since I would be so knackered, they'd treat me just a little better than usual.

From the moment the limo picked me up, I knew I wouldn't be able to travel in Economy again - and never have on long haul. I also joined Flying Club (Freeway at the time), since at the time you had to do a premium flight in order to qualify for membership.

Maybe we should try and get together with VS for Virgin Unite, do a sponsored flight - Pix in Economy. The more money thats raised the shorter the flight, and of course no Clubhouse, no upgrades, no Revivals allowed, the Gold card stays at home!! ;)

Funnily enough at that time, i was flying regulary with BM to Belgium, and actually acheived FC silver with only one Transatlantic economy flight with Virgin.:D
Still smarting that they took away the perk of "Silver 'till you die" [:(!]
