4oD & The Law of the Playground?

Anyone else using the new 4oD (On Demand) application? I know it's XP & Vista only at the moment but it looks very good to me. Saves me having to deal with adverts and can watch stuff when I want on my PC.

And talking of that, anyone been watching 'The Law of the Playground'? Oh my, the memories of school revisited.

Not used 4oD yes but BBC iPlayer is very good.

The problem with these streaming TV content providers though is that they could be a victim of their own success if their popularity continues the way it has done since the iPlayer launched at the end of last year, as all UK ISP's are seeing a large increase in traffic going though their networks beacuse of these new streaming content applications so some of them may well start resticting access if the increase in traffic continues [V]

But then it's up to the ISP's to invest their money in improving the network infrastructure to handle the increase. The BT 21CN network is more than capable of handling huge amounts of data. The bottlenecks occur on the 'last mile' usually due to old, substandard copper or aluminium cables or by ISP's introducing throttling.

ISP's can only add more capacity to their networks by by renting more ADSL 'pipes' from BT Wholesale which arnt cheap so would likely mean increases in all users monthly ADSL subscriptions.

You can view the BBC iPlayer in full screen mode. Online streaming isn't quite as good quality in full screen mode as a downloaded program though.
