Hey All,
I have my eye on a weekend in Moscow with a few BMI miles paving my way.

Having not stepped foot into Russia before - The whole Visa thing is a bit alien to say the least! [:D]

Does anyone have any recommendations/tips on the best way of obtaining a tourist visa for 3-4 days travel?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice recieved...[:D]

Use a service - queuing is a nightmare....

RealRussia get a few recommendations on various other sites. Their Visa services start at £85pp, most others seem to be about the same.

I'm probably being tight - This just sounds like a stack of cash just for an entry visa for a weekend away..[:I]

stack it against what a day off work queuing is worth to you :)

Easiest way is to make a hotel reservation first. They will then send voucher which you go to embassy with to obtain Tourist visa. Queuing is the crappy part.
Avoid Moscow, go to St Petes instead.

Hi Iain,

Firstly thanks very much for the info. [y]

I'm looking at booking with Marriott via their website, Do they automatically post you the vouchrer required or do you have to request it?

I don't know a great deal about St Pete's, any must see and do's that you can steer me in the direction of? [:D]

Thanks again..[:)]

Usually it comes via e-mail with reservation confirmation or sometimes the reservation confirmation is enough.

Moscow is fine for a weekend but apart from Red Square, the metro, Kremlin and the shopping there is not much else and it is as busy as hell.

St Petes has shed loads of things to see and is altogether a much nicer city even to walk around in.
