Some other well, and not so well know, things to do:
-
CAF Boat Tour, this is well worth a half day of your time, weather permitting.
- If you are really into architecture,
Oak Park is also worth a trip
- Wrigley Field, and catch a Cubs game - baseball like it used to be
- At a push, you might want to go visit the
Hyde Park neighborhood, but avoid surrounding areas. I love Hyde Park, but there's no denying it gets interesting once you step outside its immediate confines.
It's a great architecture city, it's a great sports city, and there is still a fair bit going on music-wise if you are into certain things. It's also home to some of the most difficult neighborhoods in the US.
For any fans of cheesy 80s US teen movies, you could probably design a whole trip around key locations featured in those movies.
