Ok I know this may sound daft but does anybody know the best place to watch the champions league matches in St James in 2 weeks time. I have to see the Utd V Barca game but the kick off is at 15.45 and not many of the 'pubs' seem to open. The likes of Groots etc dont open till the evening .Any ideas guys?[:D]

Thanks,

K

The Coach House, just south of where you're staying, would be your best bet. That's assuming it's still there - there was talk of it going on the market last year.

Failing that, I think you may have to head down to the south coast...

Hi Flash.

Think it's shut now - just been doing a bit of investigating and it looks like it's relocated to Holetown at the site of the old Baku Beach Club and is now calling itself the Beach House. Shame in a way, 'cause it was really handy for where we stay.

You could try Surfside. Just go past the post office to the beach and it's on your right - I thin. Cocomos might haveit as well, though they only haveone small screen in the bar area and I'm not sure what they get in the way of channels.

Don't think you'll get Champions League in Cocomos[:?]. Might get a half decent(ish) lunch though. They're good with kids (and their badly behaved parents[}:)]).
Barbados isn't really geared up for UK/EU footie. Not their thing really.

When we were in St James a few years back my son spent one afternoon in a bar watching a Man U game. I doubt he'd remember which one, but I could try asking if you like.

If it's a big enough game it'll be on somewhere. Barbados, like everywhere else in the world except Manchester, has it's fair share of people sporting scum (sorry) Man U tops. And Arsenal seem really popular too. As daharris pointed out, if you're on the west coast then Surfside seems to be the best place.

For the south coast it's undoubtedly the Ship Inn you should be heading for (if you don't mind the roaches). I fondly remember watching Leeds give Arsenal a drubbing to stay in the Premiership a few years back. Didn't last long though...

Thanks all - I emailed the Coach house and this was their reply -

Hi Keith,

We have moved location and unfortunately the sports bar part of our operation is not up and running yet.
You will be able to see the game at Surfside, behind the police station in Holetown or Lord Willoughbys Tavern up on Highway 2A not far from Sandy Lane Golf Club.
Hope this helps.

So it seems like the Surfside it is - If any of you fellow V Flyers are over there - see you there!!!

Cheers,

Keith
