err---it's in New Jersey? The other side of the Hudson from say, New York? I don't want to downplay Weehawken but it is generally reached by going under the Hudson (Lincoln Tunnel) which is good if you're a commuter on a bus and it is not commuting hours and bad if you thought you were staying somewhere in Manhattan.

We looked at staying there last year, as rates in NJ are a lot lower than Manhattan, which is okay if you are familiar with the NJ/NY public transport system.

In the end, we were put off by Tripadvisor reviews.

I always take one or two bad reviews on that site with a pinch of salt, but there were an awful lot of negatives when I read about this place.

We finished up in Brooklyn instead. [;)][:D]

The EWR crews used to stay at this hotel. It is very close to the ferry port so easy to get the ferry across to manhatten. I wouldn't say it's amazing but rooms are better than most of the hotels in manhatten. They are much larger and you get a little lounge area and a small kitchen. It just means that if you are out late in manhatten you will have to get a taxi back through the tunnel.

Look at the Affinia 50 at 51st Street near Rockeffler Plaza (http://www.affinia.com), I hit lucky there and got upgraded toi the Penthouse Suite on the top floor, or the Millenium Hilton at 'Ground Zero' via the Hilton website.

Have been to both and would recommend. The Hilton has offers on beacuse of the construction of the Freedom Tower but if you book a suite on Floor 36 upwards you'll be fine.

Ask for a corner suite with views of the Hidson. I took my Aunty for here 80th last year and she loved the hotel.

As Nick says Tripadvisor is well worth a visit. Both of these hotels score highly on there.

PM me if you need more info.

Another vote for Affinia 50. We stayed there in January and really enjoyed it. The staff were great. The decor was a tad dated but the rooms were huge.

Andrew, it's on 50th which is why it's called Affinia 50. It's on the corner of 50th and 3rd
