Just back and as promised will let you know my comments regarding the famous SL. It was simply the best 5* family hotel I have ever stayed in. Not a single thing can I say aginst this wonderful resort. Ok I know some a 'bee in their bonnet' about this hotel but I went with a complete open mind and was blown away with the detail to service , the incredible rooms , the food, the beach , the pool, the kids club. Lets not forget the incrdable SPA. Ok its expensive but no more expensive than say the Ritz Carlton in Orlando. We had got a room rate of 750usd for the adults room + 50% discount for the kids.Thius included breakfast. We stayed in the Orchard wing (the cheapest rooms on the resort) that were amazing.

There was a group of 11 of us including 5 kids and at the end we sat down and said , ok what one thing would you change abou the resort to make it better - None of us could come up with anything at all. If any of you are thinking of heading off to Barbados, take my advise and try stay there. Ok i know during there Xmas period its full of stars and the prices are 3 times higher , so who really would be bothered to go then anyway. When were there the other guests were so friendly and everybody was having such a good time its puts a smile on everybodys faces.[:D]

Any of you who are considering the SL dont listen to the negitive comments on some sites. Most I have read have been from visitors not even staying there.Just having a look and only really by staying there will you get the full impact of this amazing hotel.

Sandy Lane one of the best anywhere.[oo]

Indeed, I am intrigued now... [:)]

To be honest I am not really a fan of the Caribbean (to me most of the hotels and service seem sub-standard compared with the US, the Middle East and I assume Asia etc): so it is good to hear that there ARE some good places out there. [:)]

(Cruising in the Caribbean is differemt of course - on the right cruise line...)

$750 USD a night? I didn't think the RC in Orlando was that much - just had an offer from AmEx for 7 nights at that property, with Upper Class flights, dining discount, one free lunch, and breakfast for 2 each morning for £2100 each.

Interesting to hear the reviews on SL though - I just have this vision of utter pretensiousness at the place, with bottle blondes with ageing men all trying to outdo each other. Cliche perhaps.

I had it in my head that SL didn't allow children, but by the sound of it, they were well looked after.

Pics are on my PC at home - will down load tonight and then try figure out how to let you see them all. SL is one of the most child friendly hotels I have stayed at to be honest. I would have loved to had the kids club like they have when I was a kid ----- all those years ago.

Ricard, I also thought of that when booking but how wrong can one be. Now I would imagine at Xmas when the cheapest room is over 3000 usd. I can just see the 'Ive a bigger one than you ' (as in diamonds) going on but this time of the year seems to have a really nice class of people there. Now to be honest there were a bunch of Russians that arrived 2 days before we left and what a crowd in tinkers they were. I was in the jewelers just having a look and the way they spoke to the staff in there was unacceptable. And then tried to pay by cash for an item that must have been worth 20k usd. The shop refused to accept the cash sayting all transactions for cash over a certain amount must be reported to management. The Russians swore at the staff. I wont repeat what they said . As they say 'rough as a camels a*se .They then were also shouting and screaming while drinking after breakfast - however I believe mangement soon showed them the door - They were nowhere to be seen after. Good on the SL I say.

Put them on a site like photobucket/flickr/kodakgallery and put a link to your album?

If you want to post them in the site Gallery you will need to size them so that they are smaller than 120kb as this is the max the upload will allow. When you have selected the pics you want to post and re-sized them (this is usually better if you put the ones for upload into a separate folder on you PC) log onto the site and go to the Photo Gallery, at the bottom of the screen you will see an 'Upload Photo' button click on that and follow the instructions. You will have to post each pic separately, there is no batch up-load unfortunately. Also please select the appropriate category, i.e. 'Hotels'.
