As you're no doubt aware Nick, A.net has gone haywire! This seems to mark the end of AA as a premium carrier, now just equivalent to a LCC - boy I can imagine the rows, the carry ons stuffed everywhere, the misery ... it will be a very good reason to avoid AA within the US - but then no doubt all the others will follow. For me it makes doing business there - unless point to point, less desirable.

Mind you - they've a way to go to catch up with EasyJet and RyanAir ... charges to board earlier than others anyone?

The second part of their news is the grounding of up to 100 planes - this will mean route reductions and considerable numbers of staff redundancies ...

Charges such as this may finally cause the US government to return to the age of airline regulation and, needless to say, taxing 'big oil.' While reform isn't likely until after our elections this Fall it could be swift; our Democratic party is very suspicious of corporate motives.

No, not all tickets, pretty much the same as before, anything but a discount Y ticket is exempt and all international flights.

Sorry to break the news, but whilst AA may be ok in first, they have not been a premium carrier for a long time.
The crazy thing is, when I look for flights, 9 times out of 10 they are the most expensive.
