Thanks for posting to this thread and putting it in the face of a relative newcomer - some of the designs are really impressive.
I've just applied for a Virgin Card and despite my desire for the miles I was dissapointed that the design was not a little more imaginative.
We can but hope.

I have actually e-mailed FlyingClub again recently to ask for an update and they informed me (after discussing the issue with their marketing department) that they are definitly still planning to release an individually branded FlyingClub credit card sometime soon.
Thet's just hope that by soon they really mean soon!

Most FC M/Cards will have to be re-issued shortly anyway as, after speaking to MBNA today, they informed me that even though my FC M/card has a chip on it, it's not a chip+pin card.

I have to say that I was kind of expecting FlyingClub to use the Chip & PIN re-issuing as an opportunity to swap everyone onto the newly re-branded cards, though if Phil has been issued with a Chip & PIN card already, that's obviously not gonna happen.
Though I suppose moving people onto a whole new card product will be a slightly larger excercise than the move to Chip & PIN.

I have received my chip + pin FC M/C a few weeks back after contacting MBNA. Apparently the old cards with the chip in it are only chip + signature.
If you want a new chip + pin FC M/C then give MBNA a ring and tell them to re-issue you a new card otherwise you have to wait until a new card is issue to you automatically (whenever that maybe).

Technically not apparently, I've spoken to a friend who is in the know as far as credit cards are concerned. Apart from the fact he keeps on telling me that Chip & Pin is useless, he reckons a brand change is as easy as ordering the cards on mass, then it's just as easy as changing the paper in a printer. It wouldn't be advertised because people would "lose" cards on mass so they get a new one, merely phased in slowly.
What may cause an issue is when FC members switch between FC grades, as an FC gold member may think they are entitled to a FC Gold credit card (and vice versa), which isn't always going to be the case. I think it's that issue which is going to cause them quite a headache...

Only asking as when I was last home there was an application for a standard Virgin cc in the post but on reading through the blurb although mentioning benefits throughout the virgin group it did not say anything about VS miles or points.
As yearly spend is quite high on a cc, it would be a good way to collect extra miles or TP's.

Yes there is a Virgin FlyingClub Mastercard. However the branding on the card is no different to the standard Virgin CreditCard. All it lets you do is earn FC miles instead of membershop points.
There are two types of cards you can get, with fee or without. The optional annual fee is £80. If you don't pay it then you earn one mile per pound spent (excluding Credit Card Cheques and Balance Transfers) and I think 2,000 bonus miles upon your first transaction.
If you pay the annual fee you get 2miles per pound spent and 4,000 bonus miles on your first transaction.
If you call Virgin Credit Cards hotline to apply you should be able to ask them for the FlyingClub card. If you have a Virgin Credit Card you can't convert it into a FC one, you have to apply for a new one and transfer the balance. They are a bit vague about whether or not you would be able to transfer your membershop points.

This will potentially cause huge problems... you could be an FC gold member without being in the financial situation that will merit you the benefits (and the credit limit!) that a MBNA Gold cards offers..
and besides, how peeved would you be if you dropped a tier and they demanded their gold card back in exchange for a silver!?[V]
I'm a big supporter of the FC branded cards, don't get me wrong, I just think at best all any of us can expect is a pretty red one!

IMHO there would be very few regular flyers that would be turned down by MBNA for a gold or plat card as they are in practice the same as their standard plastic. There really are no qualifications apart from good credit history and saying yes I earn X or Y.I suspect the credit limit on my unglamorous red VSCC will be rather higher than most of their issued plat cards.
I would be happy with a one for all separately branded VSCC card in ummm pink no black:D
