Which hotel?

I'm totally confuzzled by the choice of resorts, i've spent ages looking at them all but can't decide. We'll be staying at the Four Seasons for 3 nights at the end of our tour, so i'm looking for something a bit more central on The Strip for our first 3 nights. I'm thinking either The Venetian, Bellagio or Caesar's. Any thoughts on these or any other recommendations? We have 2 kids (8 & 12), so nowhere that's 'party central'........though hubby has sussed he can visit the Mandalay Bay pool while we're at the Four Seasons. [}:)]

Have stayed at Vennettian and Bellagio. Haven't stayed at Caesar's Palace, but have had a look around.

Bellagio wins hands down: it is on a more intimate scale than the Vennettian (Vennettian car park was MILES from the rooms) and a lot more classy (the general hotel, the rooms and the bathrooms). I also think that the Bellagio is better located than the other two. You can often get some good deals at the Bellagio over the Summer too. We had a fountain view room on a high floor and it was fantastic.

One advantage of the Venetian is the room does have a sofa bed, useful addition if you have kids. Both have nice spacious pool areas.

There are a fair ammount of posts on this subject if you do a search. My feelings about the Bellagio are well documented (see honey lambs post 'Help me plan my trip').Full of non-resident voyeurs. IMHO not classy but we all have differing views.Customer service is dire.Go to Caesars or the Venetian (or anywhere else)where you'll get decent service.

Also..being the Scrooge I am...you can go to priceline...the 5 star strip option is the Venetian and you should be able to get two rooms for the price of one.

Hmm, so the MGM might of been a rush decision? any comments?

Stayed at the MGM last year in one of their regular rooms. Didn't have any complaints, everything was clean and tidy and the room was a fair size, and if you book through their website they have some great deals at times (although that may be a bit late for you now northernhenry!)

Depends on whether you feel you have got value for money. I not sure if there is a 'bad' hotel on the strip. All the rooms I have stayed in have been perfectly servicable and clean, and of a reasonable size. The facilities in the hotels vary, but it all depends on what you want.

Having a family I look for a hotel with a bigger pool area, not to far to walk to other attractions and enough room for everyone to kip down comfortably.

when it's just been the wife and me, we've looked for a good rate, with a reasonable location.

Actually, it looks like the Royal has been upgraded, a lot since I last graced the place. I will have to swing by and check it out.

Gone for a grand tower room, as heard the 'West Wing' although modern was a lot smaller. [:?]
In terms of Buffets for Breakfast is it worth heading out elsewhere or stick to the MGM??

It was the grand tower that we stayed in, you will be fine with that.

We ate at the MGM buffet a couple of times (we had $30 dollars or so to spend on dining as part of the deal) and found it to be fine. It was very busy at times, especially as they change from breakfast to lunch, and lunch to dinner, but that's the same at most buffets.
There was plenty of choice and whilst it's probably not the best buffet in Vegas, it's definitely nowhere near the worst.

Have a good time in Vegas, and if you don't like the MGM buffet after you have tried it, there are plenty of others to choose from.

I'm a big fan of Caesar's, especially the Augustus tower, really enjoy my stays there. I spent a few days in a GO Room at the Flamingo on my last visit, which was a pretty cool room.

My 14 year old son is very clear as to his favourite place to stay in Las Vegas. He adores the Wynn where we have stayed for the past two years in the Tower suites (though I am not convinced that it is worth paying the extra for a more exclusive check-in experience). The pool is nice and the restaurants are great and they have always treated my son very well. Whilst at the opposite end of the strip to the Four Seasons, we have always found it quite convenient and like being across the road from the Fashion Mall.

The four seasons isn't across from the fashion show, the Wynn is, just to make that clear for everyone.

Actually I don't have that high a regard for the Four Seasons here, the rooms are rather ordinary to say the least. However the way the staff treated my nieces means they get a big [y] for me.
