I like Donna, love the fact she doesn't want to get into his pants (that's getting a bit boring) and she plays it very well. The scene where Pompeii is blowing up and she tells the doctor he's got to go back, in the Library where her kids disappear and this last episode she was awesome.

Blink with Sally Sparrow was one of my two fave episodes (the other was Girl in the Fireplace) and she would make a great assistant and quite similar to Donna I think.

Girl in the Fireplace - another great episode (that I've watched a couple of times on v:port) and a favourite line.

Mickey - What's a horse doing on a space ship?
Doctor - What's pre-revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Come on Mickey, get some perspective

Sophie Myles who played Madame de Pompadour would have been awesome as an assistant - let's have someone from a different era for a change.

Does anyone else think they really missed a trick when they regenerated Derek Jacobi into a younger and much less imposing version of the Master? ('Utopia' and 'The Sound of Drums'). John Simm (whilst a great actor) just didn't have the same gravitas somehow and seemed much less threatening...

Donna has been the best so far in my humble opinion.

How annoying that the Beeb wouldn't permit a two hour finalŽ special. I wonder if that's why Russell has left in a cream puff. [;)] Annoying this now means I will have to watch the second part via V+ rather than on-air as Miss Minogue is in town and I'm expected to be in attendance.

John Simm was a shockingly bad choice for the Master. Ridiculous.

There was only one Master for me... having grown up in the 80s... Anthony Ainley. They needed someone like him.

It's a shame that John Simm played The Master, as I think he'd make a great Doctor.

1. Sally Sparrow from 'Blink' (Series 3)
2. Jennie (The Doctor's Daughter)

Better than Catherine Bloody Tate any day......

Hmm.....you might have a point. I like Ms Horrocks but doesn't it work better when the sidekick is not so well known?

How about Baldrick as an assistant - never one to be without a cunning plan. [:)]
