Hi All.

For the first time in 5 years, I lost my diamond level... Not much of a pain bar the fact I'd gotten used to being in the exec lounges, etc (especially the FREE DVD rental in the Beijing Hilton Lounge!).

I've done a forecast of my upcoming stays for 2008 and I'll be 16 nights / 20,000 base points short :-(

I haven't factored any spend within the hotel, but I know I'll still be short

Any ideas as to how I can increase my base points?

Rgds in advance

Paul
PS: I do love how the hilton lets you earn diamond by either nights / stays / base points!

I am assuming that you have moved down to Gold level, in which case you still qualify for room upgrades etc (although the chance may be slightly less if there are also Diamond members checking in as well). In terms of extra base points - may be some drinks and dinner in the hotel will move yourself closer (obviously probably not enough as you will need to spend about $2000 on food / drink / movies to get the base points!). Othewise a long weekend somewhere nice??

I have moved down to Gold, alas! You're right, after factoring in internet access and room service, I should be okay :-) Ta for the help :-)

I got Diamond with 100k base points these were topped up by booking a couple of expensive suites and spending a few quid at the bar[:D]

I'm currently well on the way to Double Diamond courtesy of base points - works wonders allegedly...

and it does... just experienced a 'Diamond Desk Force'. Where there is no availability for reward stays as the inventory is all used up, Diamond Desk negotiate directly with the hotel to free up more inventory for you...

As you know, there are a limited number of rooms available for HHonors Reward Redemption at any given hotel, on any given night. Once these rooms are reserved, no additional reward rooms are accepted. Based on your membership level in the HHonors program, we have made special arrangements with the hotel to allow you to use your HHonors points.

So a DEFINITE improvement over Gold.

Definitely worth the candle, particularly when the status carries the same perks when using points for booking as it does when using money. Free breakfasts and Executive Lounge access go down well with the family.

Has anyone noticed that you still get some points credited for stays booked using points even when you spend absolutely nothing extra during the stay?

Well here's hoping they don't claw back on my reward stay as at £5,000 retail that'd requal me Diamond instantly $10,000 = 100,000 PLUS incidentals...

I've never been awarded full points on a reward stay but usually some spurious number that don't seem to relate to anything.

Not just the incidentals then?

No as pjh said have earned points with no spend at all and even with the incidentals there always seems to be more that there should be.

How about joining e-rewards to boost your total?

Or you could buy a few Hhonours points? Look on their website.

How about getting friends/family to join? This offer would also boost your totals.

I finally managed to get to 4000 e points after about a year, transfered them for 3k HH points no probs.Mrs JP got to 4k a couple of weeks later tried to transfer to our mutual HH account and got a message that you are only allowed to transfer every 3 months what a joke.[n]
