DOes anyone know how to organise transfers from DXB to Abu Dhabi? I would prefer to fly VS to Dubai and then transfer down, rather than EY or BA. Can't seem to easily find this information on line.

Cheers

The easiest way to do this is by taxi, either on the day by approaching one of the cabs outside the airport or by pre-arranging a transfer. We used Al Ghazal taxi's (most people seem to use them) and its a cheap (fixed rate of about 150 AED) 60-90 minute drive along the Sheikh Zayed Road highway and quite pleasant. Take a look here for dummy bookings and here for telephone numbers. We had our hotel arrange the transfer for us and i would assume yours would do the same, though its apparently very usual for visitors to walk up on the day and request the transfer to AUH.

Thanks,
Sarah

Or if you fly Emirates in business or first you'll get a car and that will do very nicely [y]

We hired a car for a day to drive to AD and back (£30 + £5 petrol). Don't know what day you plan to arrive, but if it is Friday or Saturday - traffic won't be a problem. The drive is very easy (as Sarah says) and Dubai/AD is quite easy to get around.

BTW no rude hand signals whilst driving or drinking alcohol prior to driving (say 24 hours)- prison and deportation will follow

I am not too sure I'd want to drive over there. I'm a confident driver but after the few near misses we had in the local taxi's I think I'd rather entrust my safety to a local driver [:)]

Thanks,
Sarah
