I am the only named driver on my policy with eSure. Domestic/Social/Connection with business. I needed to add a senior employee (60+ UK license 4+ year (<5)) onto my policy. I originally planned to do this for a 7 week tranche but the call operative suggested strongly that I try the annual. I did so and was bemused at the end to receive a quote for -2.50. Yup they're refunding me money for adding a person to the policy.

Asking around it seems that people who have tried to take partners off their policy have seen their costs go up! So if booking solo try adding someone close to you and see if this makes a difference!

Yup, i added a good friend to my insurance policy a number of years ago and the policy went down. Tried to take him off about 3 years ago and was advised that it would increase my premium so I've left him on. Quite bizzare really as you'd think extra people on a premium would increase the risk of an accident.

Thanks,
Sarah

I'm 28 and have my Mum on my policy as it drops the price around £50. She's never driven or even likely to drive my car!

Have done this for several years with various providers.

Part of the reason is that if they're lower risk than the currently insured, then the more dodgy currently insured drivers will be assumed to drive less therefore less chance of a claim than there had been before. Having seen a car insurance premium calculation system from the insude I was interested and relieved to see that it really was fair in its calculations.

Yeh I would imagine that when you take off your employee the policy will go up. Likewise its also possible that the price will go up if you add a further person.
