Booked through Expedia... at the time they had the same fare as Virgin but without the cc charge.

They may have missed a ticketing deadline and had to re-book you or something like that

I've had my e-ticket since the day I booked... including e-ticket numbers etc, they even gave me the Virgin reference number (rather than the GDS one which doesn't always work)

Pure speculation, but I would assume that Expedia have more flexibility in their dealings with VS than individuals; and maybe, with the new sale fares, an X class is now cheaper than an N class was, and they have been able to swap.

The tangible benefit to you should be, that you get full miles and 2 TPs instead of 1. Unless, of course, it changes again. [:?]

I'm sure it's to do with the miles, because I have been watching the fares and they've been in a downward march since we booked. As the trip is a prize (limo to LHR, limo to 5* NYC hotel etc) I'm not that bothered - it's just something that interests me - and what I have noticed is that on fares that were £371 approx. they'd offer about 3000 miles, but then on a recent fare of £359 they'd include 5000 miles. When I booked I was getting 6725miles.

I doubt I'll win something like that again!

I'm fascinated that even though it's probably all done automatically, that maybe, just maybe, there's someone at Virgin looking at my booking and allocating seats etc. It makes me feel special. ;)

What did you have to do to win the prize?
Do tell!

It's all a bit boring really - I won a quarterly award called 'Employee of the Quarter' at work which is voted for by colleagues and managers. Then the four winners are submitted to the Directors of the company, and they decided the overall winner.
Which for some reason was me!

So I got VS flights, 5* hotel in New York (I can't afford the prices this place charges), limo to LHR and from JFK and back, and $1000 to spend in the sales.).

Employee of the Year - be a winner and a loser at the same time!

And indeed, the seats allocated have changed again. This time we're in the middle of the plane.
