Perhaps it's:

A sale. Oct/Nov PE & UC.
Announcement of the results
Announcement of the imminent refurbishment of the LGW fleet [:w]
Another site enhancement that is invisible to all but the most dedicated browsers.

Would they have a sale so soon after their Bank Holiday weekend sale?

Some good prices, but as usual the dates are very restricted. Parents looking at going to MIA in November, only about 3 combination of dates you can get the £720.50 fare, otherwise it is £900 or more! So slightly annoying.

I'm confused. This was on the website yesterday. I know. I was checking for my next trip.

This was just their normal monthly update of fixes and new enhancements. I see OLCI has a fancy new thing telling you what flights are open/closed

That's right, these prices have been available since Monday, I had a look at a return to LAX in November and it gave me a price of £758.

Paul's link in the first post in the thread is still a holding page, so the two events may not be linked, but the bottom line (for me) is that it is a new sale that wasn't there when I last looked at the weekend.

As usual, the destinations vary, the dates vary and the savings vary but (again for me) it is a good sale with lots of dates, and lots of savings in PE to Beantown (BOS). [y]

If anyone, who doesn't mind the cold, is planning a pre or post Christmas shopping trip, then I would have no hesitation in recommending Boston. Mass. has no sales tax on food (except in restaurants) or on clothing costing <$150.

I was looking at a Dubai September PE (K) fare yesterday on the old sale. It came in as 719 each. Same fare today 629 each. :) Fare code KLMEG states:

UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/BEFORE 23SEP 08. FOR -LMEG TYPE FARES TICKETS MUST BE ISSUED ON/BEFORE 23SEP 08.

So even though its not specifically listed in this sale some non US destinations are included.

Now all I need is LHR-JFK Xmas shopping 19-21 Dec at a sensible price. Unfortunately NYC is not part of this sale :(

I'm holding out for a UC sale in December/January for a planned trip to New York in February.

Thankfully the November trip I booked last week LHR-BOS returning LAS-LGW is more expensive now than it was then (I paid £840 in PA) ; perhaps my luck is finally changing this year. Must buy some Euro Lotty tickets.

Now Nick, dont get into the habit of checking the price of flights you have already booked. That can often be a sobering experience [:D]

Thanks,
Sarah

...except the while BA is discounting CW, the same isn't currently showing for UC as far as I can see.

Thank you preiffer for posting this thread!

After reading it I checked out PE for my upcoming econ trip to miami and how wonderful it was to see that it was only £55 difference to upgrade on the outbound trip! So I called flyingclub as I had booked it with M+M and inc admin fees and taxis I upgraded for £250 for me and my friend. Much better price than when I inquired few months ago £750 then! what a difference.

So thanks again, I don't normally re-check prices after I have booked incase they have gone down. However, your thread made me think twice!

I was just browsing the VS site today to find that our trip to DXB out in PE and back in Y had dropped by £60 each.I called VS and have managed to get the return upped into PE for a total of £170 for the 2 of us including only a £50 change fee.

It seemed like a good deal at a total of £639 in PE return. Is it???

[:?]Hmmm! While UC is in the drop down menu, a dummy run on a couple of destinations don't seem to show sale prices. Perhaps the fares haven't been loaded yet

Once upon a time..... airlines would refund the difference in the fares if they went down after you booked. Is that no longer the rule?

It seems that VS are following BA in this sale - there are no North American destinations currently on sale in CW as far as I can see other than Bermuda and the Carribean.

While it remains to be seen whether North American destinations will appear, I would be surprised if we don't see a sale to these destinations at some point in CW/UC.
