Bank of America VS Amex

Hi

I currently have a UK Black Virgin Amex card. I have just seen an advert for the Bank of America one - has anyone got it? I see there is some good milage to be got for first purchases and you can get tier points.

The one question I have - my Flying Club membership is a UK one - will I have to 'move' to the US to continue collecting miles on the same account with a US Amex and if so does that have any implications? I ask because I also have a BA AMEX and if I changed my Executive Club account to the USA it would cancel my UK BA Amex automatically - not something I wish to do!

I have accounts in both countries so I am just trying to get the best deal and collect miles as I go! [:)]

Have had this card just a couple of weeks--gotten several compliments on its 'cool' look ( nice matte black , simple plane logo) and note that miles accrued are shown immediately on my VS account--including the 20K for first use. Much nicer really than Starwoods which takes quite a long time to post.
Also received a call from someone at Bank America thanking me for taking out the card but interestingly it was someone corporate who could not tell me if the card offered travel insurance/car rental coverage/delayed-canceled travel-lost luggage etc. He was quite apologetic but rather than his trying to read through the fine print over the phone I said I'd do it when I got a chance--haven't done so yet.

So...to make a long small print story short--have received the VS Amex BCard coverage and whilst it is extensive it is not particularly generous. I had thought to cancel my Starwoods Amex but think I'll keep it for car hire and other purchases as the bank america card has incredibly low ceilings on coverage.

On the other hand the 20 K already on account have paid for one UC upgrade.

Why can't we have tier points on our UK Virgin AmEx..? Doesn't seem that fair! 24 tier points a year would come in very handy!!

Of course they would, however it is probably never going to happen.

I have the US VS Amex card and I had to change my FC account over to the US address that I use for a billing address on the US card. I don't think you would be able to hold both a US and a UK VS Amex because one of the cards would always be in conflict with the address on your FC account.

It was a huge hassle for me b/c the difference in address caused a new FC red account to be opened on my behalf and the miles from the CC went there first. When I figured out what was going on, it took a number of phone calls to BoA and VS to get it sorted out and the red account consolidated into my AU account.

Let us know if you find out anything otherwise...
