According to Airliners.net the Sunset Beach Bar has been closed. Looks like the hotel (condos) are taking the space. Glad I went when I did.

Got an email last night/this morning...the party will go on, something tells me the SSBB is not going anywhere...and anyways, there is always the bar at the other end of the beach.

That's a relief. I am saving my pennies Dave. Never been to SXM and your party seems a good as excuse as any to go [:D]

Correct. That bar is lame [:)] and beer is more expensive than SSBB. SSBB had a pretty cool night life too that the 'other' bad lacked. Hopefully either the SSBB will get bought and reopen or the 'other' bar will expand.

There is also the option of walking to convenience store ~65 feet from the beach that sells $1.00 beers (American, local and import).

Sunset Beach Bar will not be shut down.......

According to Kildare Properties' insiders, Sunset Beach Bar will continue to operate, but the owners will appoint an interim manager while a purported deal to sell the lease to a well-known local businessman is finalised.

Sunset Beach Bar in St. Maarten. This is a very popular establishment. Unfortunately, the bar is currently closed for renovations until October 2009.
