I wonder how Easyjet ended the same as Virgin Atlantic?

If you look back, Easyjet has never really made that much money, this was mainly due to them being in expansion mode, but they are now well established and have a good cash flow...VS has SRB and SQ money backing it...However as we have all seen in the last couple of weeks, there is no business that goes under quicker than an airline.

I wonder how many people have put money on BA? Got to be one of the most unlikely considering it's heritage and the likely jump to support the airline if it were even a possibility.

I'm sure people said the same about Pan Am, TWA, Eastern, Braniff...the list goes on.

Just looked up where Ryanair dropped you off - 'Dusseldorf Weeze' (and they do state it is Weeze airport on their site) is actually 81km from Dusseldorf - is that a record for them??

This sort of thing does not exactly help install consumer confidence, does it.
AZ has been limping along for a long time, and LH were looking at them with a lot off interest, although if I was LH I would wait for them to go bankrupt and then get all the best bits of the administrator afterwards. (This is what made me giggle about XL, why on earth would TC have paid over the odds for the company last week, when they knew that they could get the best bits off the administrator this week at a knock down price)
Even if they dont go under, LH already have plans in place to start operating 6 A319's from MXP, so maybe that will be the final nail in the coffin. LH seem to be well placed to pick up the pieces of AZ ex MXP/FCO and route all LH through FRA and MUC.
The Sunday Times, seems to reckon that SAS is in a lot of trouble, this is in part due to the poor performance of JK. If SAS go under then that will have knock on effects for BD, JK and others. SAS apparently have gone begging to LH for some form of investment. SAS would be major casualty.
Sky Europe and Wizz are also apparently finding times tough.
