I am a FC Silver Card holder and am travelling to JNB in Dec (in Economy) with the wife and 2 kids in tow. Can i use the PE Check in queue [^], or will i have to join the long queue for Y check in[:(]? Any ideas.

You will have no problem checking in using the PE check in with your family.

I think there has been the occasional conflict when a lone silver member has tried to check in a huge group of his / her mates, but a family group travelling together only needs one silver card holder.

Not sure how you plan on LHR Clubhouse access in this instance, as children would really be counted unless they are infants - I'm presuming that you and your wife are either both BD Gold's or UK AmEx Centurion holders?

Thanks,
Richard

Checkin has been fine with the wife+children for me in the
past. It is really up to the discretion of the lounge staff
whether to let you all in though as you are strictly allowed
only one guest. Again, unless the lounge is unusually busy,
my experience has been that it is usually OK. Just remember
to ask nicely!

Check in no problem but I'm with Richard on this one, silver will not get you in to LHR clubhouse. Will need to use other cards as mentioned.

Thanks for the info - I don't have the necessary cards for entry, but i have managed to "wangle" some one off lounge invites!! Other than that, my lips are sealed!

Well depends on the 'wangle' - if you got them thru VS then you'll be okay, but if a friend has given you a blank invite that they didn't use it won't work - they will check.

Thanks,
Richard

Hi Richard
The invites are from VAA, and are all above board.
Imagine trying to use someones invite, and being turned away - Mrs Zambandit would never forgive me!!! (Nor VAA for that matter!)

You'll be fine then!

Enjoy the oasis that is the LHR Clubhouse! If you think its good now, you wait till you see it next year when its all complete, it'll make BA Concorde room look like an exec lounge in the Beiruit Hilton...

Thanks,
Richard

Cheers Richard.
Yes, the plans look exciting with all sorts of new goodies planned!!
I took a look today at LHR, and there was no sign of any activity on the building works front! Maybe next month they'll start?
I can't wait!

Although when I looked last week, not much seemed to have happened since about a month previous, other than a couple of new stud walls had gone up in the space.

Progress seems to be glacial, unless it's one of those things which starts very slowly, and then suddenly happens overnight?

Cheers!

Wonder if it's all being pre-fabbed off site?

D**n - that pre-fab made be think of the pre-fab 4, which led to an old Half Man Half Biscuit lyric - "I'm off to see the Bootleg Beatles, as the bootleg Mark Chapman"...

It's scary in my head sometimes... ;)
