We booked flight last years for Vegas this November and picked our seats, always the back left where its 2 4 2 (747). Just checked a few days ago to find we had been kicked out of them and where never given new seats. I managed to get the last 2 seats by the window but I am relay enjoyed with them. `Has this happened to anyone else?

I assume it's due to the new seats being fitted but will they be fitted for our flight in November?

Welcome to the site.

If you do a search using the term 'seat' you will see numerous threads where people have had their seat requests apparently changed or deleted by Virgin. Sometimes they re-appear later and sometimes a party is spread all over the lane.

Whatever the reason Virgin have had a lot of negative press here, and on other sites, because of it, especially when families have been split up.

As I have said seat requests are just that - not seat bookings, as some people believe. A large percentage of seats are held back for allocation on the day and Virgin try to seat parties together.

It is worth giving the Flying Club a ring to try and resolve the matter, but if that doesn't work - use Online Check In when it opens 24 hours before you depart and try and bag decent seats there.

If that doesn't work - check in as early as you can.

I now plan to try the twilight check in as we fly from belfast to london the night before. I know they are just requests but it would have been nice to have been told that we didnt have them seats anymore, at least we could have picked new seats with a bit more options.

Has a price been set yet for the new seats in economy?

It couldn't be clearer on the VA website that the requests are not guaranteed don't know why people get so outraged about being moved, famiies will be sat together as best as VA can manage which is one of the reasons people get moved anyway.

If I were you gibbyni, I'd make a formal complaint to Virgin about this.[V]
Perhaps on the day you can try and take your own seats along, I know quite a few people who have done this.

Enjoy your time in Vegas and don't forget to play Majestic Lions slot machines in the MGM Grand, it can be quite lucrative!

Why would you want to waste time on such a fruitless exercise, as three of us have already said that seat requests are not guaranteed? It's made quite clear when you make them too as EGG pointed out. How blunt can an axe get?

Maybe with your $277 you could use it towards an upgrade to PE on the way home, though it'd probaly only cover half of it.

Ok, this sucks, while it is nice to have the two seats in the 2-4-2 set up being moved isn't the end of the world. However when doing the twilight ask to speak to a supervisor, be nice, be friendly and point out that while you understand it is a seat request and VS try to keep families together you don't understand how moving two people out of a two seat set up helps VS do this this and is there any way to get your seats back.

You can off course write to VS as soledad-canyon says, you will get a nice letter back stating the VS seating policy as has already been explained to you, in other words don't bother wasting your time or money.

Next, please remember, the flight is a small part of your holiday, don't let something like this cloud your rest and relaxation time....If there is such a thing when coming here.

No, that would result in a second formal complaint regarding the breakfast.

You know what though, even though the seats aren't guaranteed, which I have no problem with, I haven't found that to be the case when the person flying wants to change. Let me explain. In July we flew to LAX from LHR and we prebooked seats, but then they changed the plane so the config. changed, meaning me and my younger brother were on the complete opposite side of the cabin to my parents, with the divide and a row of seats between us. At check-in, we asked if we could change them, because we wanted to spend the 10 something hours together obviously. 'Sorry, we cannot change people's seats because they have pre-booked them'. Well...err..if it's not a guarantee, how can they not do that? In the end we obviously just had to suck it up, but once onboard, the amount of people that had been split up due to the aircraft change was ridiculous. People with really small kids were completely split up. Just an observation.

Sorry to the OP though, this comment clearly didn't help.

I only stayed in Vegas for one night as I find the place can become quite nauseating after a while, however I can recommend this superb hotel where standard rooms go for $70!!! with flat screen tv's and lovely old style victorian decor, this place has got bags more character than anything else you'll find on the strip:

Oh the old Barbary Coast, it actually used to have one of the best restaurants in town, Micheal's, however that moved to the South Coast.
