Ok, scrap the two biggest airlines in this country and have a national airline run by the Government. Terminal 5 has been a disaster for the ordinary traveller, it only looks after the people who are paying , a good example of this is that there are no public - pay for showers, you have to have lounge membership or to get to the showers. It's so badly thought through, they have pay for showers at Narita for non lounge travellers etc etc.

Perhaps standards would improve big time if there was a national airline here, at least it would be more accountable and perhaps monitored more effectively.

It's pretty obvious that unless you have tons of dosh that you're going to be subject to 'Ok let's throw great customer service out the window and just take em to the cleaners'.

The Airlines are moaning that they can't operate in this free market because of the purported price increase in Kerosene lol

so that accounts for all the moaning on here about service standards, the food dip and all the other little niggles [:D]

Yeah...I do have to ask, how old are you, did you ever fly BOAC ? Great wasn't it [:w]

Then who is going to pay to buy back all the shares for BA and figure out how to pay out SRB and SQ.

It is an interesting concept, totally unrealistic, but and interesting thing to think through.

Let me get this right, because a British airport doesn't offer pay for showers, two of the airlines that are registered in that country should be scrapped.

While we're at it, why don't we just ban peasants that fly in Economy as then it wouldn't be a problem as they'd be able to use the showers in the lounges.

Last time I checked, VS don't have anything to do with T5.

National airline eh? What a novel idea though, as we have acquired a couple of National banks in the past year. How would it work though for those that contribute a lot more to the economy, those who are paying ££££££££'s as you put it. Would they get priority access to the WC's and showers?

And whilst perusing a suitable non-redtop/scare mongering paper today, I did happen across this little piece about the 50th anniversary of jet travel.

Sunday Times

One might want to take note in the differnce in air fares, allowing for inflation of course.

And what's the adage, 'you get what you pay for'? We could always look into any LCC of your choice, and look at how all the 'extras' add up. And trust me, even if you 'have tons of dosh' customer service isn't always stellar. [;)]

That type of response is one of the reasons I haven't become a member of this website. Lucky You!

I know, lucky me. I was blessed with the sense of irony too, how lucky is that! I think the rest of my response was more coherrent though.

EDIT: Also moving this to 'Travel General' as this is more about airport facilities than VS in particular. Thanks.

And as you either wither away, or get used to the sarcasm of certain members, or indeed accrue some intelligence magically, you'll observe the meaning in such statements.

Let me see, start with an incoherent post, then whinge about the replies, hmmm [|)].

I wasn't going to rise to the bait but I had to.

Because a British privately owned airport which has built a terminal exclusively for one airline. Doesn't have showers for Joe Public who flys in Y or doesn't have access to a lounge. It is needed to have that airline and an airline that doesn't use that terminal to be nationalised!! [:?][:?][:?]

As with Alitalia, Governments will not buy airlines even with more serious problems than just the lack of showers in a privately owned airport.

Also the likely is if there are fewer airlines than quality will probably drop and prices increase, because of lack of competition.

Just don't understand the logic of your original post.[:?][:?]
