So am currently looking to get away in November for a City Break and came across this.

Basically on October 1st LHW will offer rooms in their hotels at $19.28 a night for 80minutes only. This is to celebrate their 80th birthday. Only allowed to stay two nights so really is a good find if you want a city break.

Pretty massive savings will be had by some, after LHW hotels are normally very pricey.

Hmmm, 'limited amount', I wonder how limited! Good is you can grab one but I imagine it will be very difficult.

Indeed. Bit like the hotel in London with rooms for £1! The only advantage is they go on sale at 12 GMT so at least you don't have to get up at silly o'clock.

Exactly like that, but on a Global scale this time! Someone has to get lucky I guess, shame I will be sipping champers at a few thousand feet when they go on sale[ii]

Would be nice if the website could cope with the number of people trying to log in!

Wonder how long it is before my boss clocks me sitting here just pressing the refresh button?

Think I'll give up...

Site is still down well after the 80 minute window is over.

Looks like they will get some bad publicity....

Well what a waste of time that was! Been on the site since about 11.45am and it was down constantly.

So what do we think is going to happen? A re-run?

Now have a message online saying that due to the popularity of the event and technical faults the sale has been suspended indefinitely.

Looks like someone has messed up big time!

I have had an e-mail with a booking form on and apologising for the website not being able to cope with demand. Booking form is to be completed and e-mailed to them on the 2nd October. Will give it a whirl.

This just in:

Thank you so much for your continued patience with The Leading Hotels of the World. We are extremely sorry for the inconveniences we have caused and regret to advise you that the USD 19.28 email promotion scheduled for tomorrow October 2nd shall be postponed.

Although our original back-up plan provided a viable solution for the 150,000 people who were registered, it was met with some confusion over submission procedures and timing. In addition, we have become increasingly concerned that a large number of non-registered respondents plan to submit forms which would inundate the system and greatly diminish your chances of securing a USD 19.28 rate.

In view of this, please do not email your form tomorrow. You will most likely receive an error message we have put in place as a safety mechanism.

We are sincerely committed to restoring your faith in our brand and do not want to risk disappointing you again. We are working tirelessly to develop a solution that will be fair for you and all registered participants. We will email you next week with further details.

Might email form anyway [}:)]

What a massive mess.

Someone must be wondering why they ever agreed to this. Some very poor PR coming there way.

Absolute screw up from my perspective.

Emails that don't really make sense (two of the 'sorry, here's a form' ones - which didn't actually include a form, followed by one of the 'don't bother anyway' type); a confusing booking process; weird setup for an 'offer' in the first place and a perception now in my head that this company haven't a CLUE how to run a booking/promotional process.

I for one, having never booked with them in the past, will never book with them in future as a result of this farce.

It was always going to fail in my book - everyone and their dog would have wanted to book a couple of nights for a tenner. Sounds like one of those 'sounded great in the marketing brainstorm meeting' ideas.

I just wonder how the hotels associated with this offer are feeling?

If I was The Gleneagles, I would be on the phone to my lawyers right now to get them to look over the contract. I would be wanting out before any more damage can be done.

The promotion went alot smoother this time round. Have to wait and see if I have bagged anything.
