Can I please have your advice?

My current travel insurance arrangements are linked to my upgraded bank account. As part of my move to Dubai, this will be changed to a plain current account.

Having looked for travel insurance, it assumes that you are UK resident which we wont be. Have also not had much joy looking at UAE sites and have also found that specilist Expat travel insurance is very expensive (600).

My favoured option is to upgrade my American Express account to Platinum which includes travel insurance and can be transferred.

Does anyone have any comments or experiences they can share?

Thanks

I had to claim on my amex insurance in May for a missed departure - long story VA flight late in, meaning late departure, meaning missed shuttle up to EDI.

BA charged me $357 to change shuttle and I claimed for a missed departure - max being £150

After a little to-ing and fro-ing (needed conformation from VA why it was late, then needed confirmation from BA saying that they wouldn't have changed the ticket for nothing [?][?]), the claim was paid directly into my amex account [y]

So yes, so far so good for amex travel insurance.

I have a similar situation here in Serbia. I am still a UK resident but not for tax purposes[:)]
As long as any length of stay does not exceed 90 days my travel insurance from UK will cover me.

It is one of these grey areas I am afraid especially when it come to claims.

Sorry cant be of more help

Iain
