What's the longest flight you have taken?

Two things.

Firstly, I think that in direct antithesis with frequent flyer programs, Y pax shoud be awarded triple hours, W pax double hours, J time-and-a-half hours and F pro rata.

Secondly, I have long wished to break the record for some circumnavigation speed records. I believe that the FAI hold the rules for this, but essentially there are two I have on my list. One is around the world between two antipodal points (eg, MAD to Ti Tree Point NZ, and back around the other side) and the other is to circumnavigate all six continents accessible by scheduled flights.

And before anyone asks why, it's because you can. Anyone else up for it? [B)]

Scrooge and I were discussing this a year or so ago, I am sure he looked at flight times too. It would be fun to see if we could do it but i think we'd be well and truly shattered afterwards.

Although not a single flight; With nothing but minimum transfers at each;
LBA-LHR (BMI) no CH
LHR - SHA (VA PE) (falling off the seat at the gate in SHA when sleep took over)
SHA - PEK (Air China Econ) (on an old 747 with pull down projector screens, ahhh those where the days..)
With the time difference, a lesson learnt....

No, I loved every minute of it. SQ do everything so well,and it was a real adventure, kind of romantic in the way long trips on the old flying boats must have been.You will probably think me quite mad but I really didnt want to get off in SIN.

Not exactly a winner but cheap and a good laugh!

Anyone keen?! Not exactly a mileage run but good fun none the less!

Something suddenly rang a bell with me here, and it's a story I heard about the Merrill Lynch takeover by Bank of America.

The story is that the Merrill head honcho was on his way NYC-SIN on the Friday night. On landing at SIN, the first thing he heard was of Lehmans going down, so he promptly jumped on the next SIN-NYC without even leaving the airport, arriving back in NYC on Sunday night to finalise the deal with BofA.

An aside is that the Merrill boss had coincidentally bumped into the BoA big cheese on a Florida golf course a few weeks earlier.

My flight was supposed to be part of a circumnavigation. I flew to EWR in the morning to get that evenings EWR-SIN, mooch around Singapore all day and get on the evening BA back to LHR.
Just to prove that time spent on research is never wasted,after take off from Newark, rather than heading over the pole to the Pacific,as I expected, we turned for Europe.I felt a right plonker watching the skymap for the next 6 hours as we headed back where I had come from.[:p][:I]

Did you see the Jeremy Clarkson thing where he flew around the world with hardly any time in all his destinations? I don't remember what channel it was on but he looked absolutely terrible after he finished and he was mostly flying in business!
I am presently playing around with multistop flights around Asia more for fun than anything else!

For me, longest flight has to be LHR-HKG-SYD with a 90 minute stop in HKG, in Y [:0], probably about 23 hours or something, but in Y it seemed to last for ever... Add 2-3 hours to check-in, then another 2 hour gap at SYD then on to MEL. Should really only be attempted in J!
