Once this was done we checked out and jumped on to the Marriott bus to terminal c and headed to the bag drop as we'd already checked in on line in the Clubhouse the day before. There were no queues when we got there so we went straight to a terminal and logged on. This was a fairly simple process and was completed within a few minutes.
Then we had a small surprise, the chap loading the bags onto the conveyor told us that one of our cases was over weight and we would need to repack it. We didn't realise that the limit was 50lbs and the case in question was 56lbs. Fortunately we had packed light in the other cases (in anticipation of the inevitable shopping sprees ahead) so managed to equalise the weight to an acceptable level across all 3. I did wonder at the time what we were going to do for the return trip but I'll leave that one for the return report.
So now the bags were gone we made our way upstairs to security which was a bit like organised chaos but it was fairly quick and soon we were making our way down to gate c138 which was right at the end of the terminal. The building itself was fairly large and modern with the usual selection of shops and fast food joints but after the breakfast we had earlier we didn't stop at any.
Arriving at the gate it was already busy but there were a few spare seats so we sat down and made ourselves comfortable. At this point we were due to leave in about 65 minutes and there was no plane parked outside so I concluded that today we were going to be late. How wrong I was, well nearly. 15 minutes later the plane arrived, 10 minutes after that the arriving passengers were off, and 25 minutes after that we were boarding. We pushed back pretty much on time and then spent ages driving around the airport before sitting in a queue for 20 minutes waiting to take off. The plane was pretty packed and it seemed to be a mix of business types and families off to see the mouse (I guess).
Onece in the air the captain announced that the time we had lost on the ground would be made up in the air and he expected us to land on time. Shortly after that the drinks round was done, soft drinks were free, beer, wines and spirits were chargeable at $5.00 a pop. I had a Coke Zero [;)]. Next up was the food round and this consisted of a bag of corn chips, chicken salad roll, Hershey's chocolate bar and a cup of coffee. This was actually quite good and filled that mid morning gap you sometimes get.
I watched some on the entertainment which was half a dozen domestic comedy shows on screens that dropped down from the overhead bins and it didn't seem long until they announced that we were beginning our decent to Orlando. Landing was quite smooth and after a short taxi we pulled up at the terminal.
I've not been to this side of MCO before and it did seem a little cramped compared to the satellite that VS uses. But we weren't stopping so it didn't really matter and even better as we had done immigration the night before in EWR we got straight onto the train and made our way to the baggage hall. To save time I went down to sort the car out with Dollar and was happy to see no queues at all and having done the paperwork was back upstairs 10 minutes later to find my wife and son with all our bags waiting to go.
So we all made our way outside to the lovely Florida sunshine and in to the garage to pick up the car. Drove out of the airport on to the freeway for a 20 minute drive to the Hard Rock Hotel and a well deserved week of fun in the sun. Bliss[:D].
