Flight was FR4102 Inbound from Hahn on B737-8AS (WL)EI-DYG (c/n33639 l/n 2557) and this all happened just before 0700GMT.
Reading from other sites it appears the initial problem was with an engine, then there was problems with the undercarriage and finally on approach there was a multiple birdstrike to both engines which caused an overshoot and damage to the aircraft! Ryanair have said that there is substantial damage to the undercarriage and the aircraft will not be able to be moved for several hours, forcing the closure of Ciampano.

Well done the Pilots and crew for getting everyone down safely and then getting everyone off the aircraft[^]
Two cabin crew and three pax have been hurt but according to reports not too seriously, I wish them all well.
(Not sure if this done correctley so please bear with me or adjust accordingly please?)

On a serious note - glad all are safe and well done to the pilots and crew. It appears from the FR website that the birdstrikes caused engine problems which meant that the plane was difficult to control on landing - hence the mess the plane is in now.

Would be interesting to find out what systems the airport had in place for bird deterrent, or whether they were actively controlling them that morning... Using Birds of Prey, distress callers etc the nornmal practise

The nose is covered in what I would guess is bird blood. Qudos to getting on the ground in one piece. [oo]

Of course the cynic in me is now waiting for the pax to complain that they didn't know what to do...

I have heard before and not sure if this is correct (But I stand to be corrected?)Mr Boeing states 'Put em down hard'? Maybe not quite so hard as this one?

The more I read about this the more deserving the Ryan Air flight crew are of praise - stories suggest they hit a flock of birds on final approach, attempted a go around after one engine failed, the other failed then they landed rather hard. With 166 pax on board this is more than the BA 777 that lost power when landing at Heathrow - potentially a bigger catastrophe!

Yet almost none of the lauding of the efforts of the flight crew ... seems Ryan Air may suffer from their service perception and the gob of MOL (who seems to have been very silent when usually he's jumping off his chair a la Tom Cruise).
