I remember when Laker collapsed, but not when they started.

The geek in me couldn't resist buying a timetable from eBay. Makes interesting reading, especially the excursion fare, when compared to the current return fares available...!

I really like the handwritten 'evidence' of the BA/PanAm response to Laker!

PS - The phone number on the timetable is now a fax for Pastiche Shirt Makers, Ifield, by Crawley.

Going a bit OT but hey :-

I remember being a student and seriously thinking of flying with them for my first economy flight - common sense prevailed and we all flew (British?) Caledonian Highland Class - anyone remember them ? (YES - I am THAT old !) So I am yet to take a Y flight with no real urge to statisy it anytime soon !

Rgds,

HG

When I was a kid we flew Laker to New York for a long weekend, this was right after the DC-10's had been cleared to fly again.

I don't remember a lot about the flight itself, except that my mother was very nervous.

in 1981 I flew to MIA with Laker for 14 nights and stayed on collins somewhere and we did a 3 day trip to Orlando to enjoy cypress gardens, walt disney world as was (epcot was under construction then) and onto Rosie O'Gradys. as I remember all was good with Laker and it was not long after the cargo doors kept dropping of DC 10s iirc the return flight was £99

Around April 1980 for some reason our British Airtours B737 flight from LGW-FAO was changed to a Laker DC10.
Even then being only 10 years old, I was so excited. The plane was so huge compared to the 737's I had traveled on.
I remember my mum was a little apprehensive due to the few crashes around that time, but we had a fab flight and I was so disappointed to fly back to LGW on the 737.
