Hi folks,

With the purchase of VLM by the Air France/KLM group, this was probably on the cards for some time.

KLM and VLM have merged their operations, but in a rather unusual way. Air France/KLM group also own Dublin-based CityJet, who fly a BAe146/AvroRJ fleet.

The LCY-AMS routes are being turned over to CityJet Avro RJ85s, and the flights will carry both a KLM and a VLM flight number, and be sold through both the KLM and VLM booking channels such as websites and call centres.

Sadly, this probably means the loss of the great VLM in-flight service (e.g. real cups and glasses, Leonidas choccies) on this route, if it's replaced with CityJet's unremarkable in-flight product (paper cups and shortbread).

VLM will still operate LCY-RTM with their own Fokker 50s, and have also started up LCY-EIN (Eindhoven, HQ city of Philips).

I never realised that VLM did LCY-EIN! Wow. It was either Eurostar or *spit* Ryanair from STN for me.
