Fabulous!

Though personally I'd quite happily give Mardi Gras a miss - just go the weekend before. Too many things about it I didn't like - having to get your spot about 6hrs before the parade and guarding it with your life, waiting for six hours for a very interspersed parade, you can't get into a bar or get a drink anywhere, its too busy and the 'official' after-party is pure 'techno techno bloody techno darling!' For a city famed for its camp and drag queens these are very definitely missing!

Sure it'll sell out, but can't think of nothing worse than being crammed on a plane full of screaming mary's [:D]

Cheers!

Kathy Griffin will unleash her D-List diva for one of the gay community's most celebratory A-List events. Air New Zealand announces that Emmy-award winner Kathy Griffin will be the official ÒHostessÓ for the airline's first North American 'Pink Flight,' which is flying in celebration to the 2008 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

Wondering if it will be an additional flight or just slight change on a current flight?

Will they change the names of the four cabins?

I remember Qantas doing this once from London - as to the cabins (three on NZ darling) business premier would have to be duchess class, premium economy perhaps for the marys and economy for the chorus girls [:D].

I'm with Fozzyo - done it a few times, if you can up with the mania, drug use, ridiculous prices its OK, otherwise head out of town!

V Australia is launching LAX-SYD services during this GL Mardi Gras. Fares are super low so I assume that bookings are light. Do you think that V Australia having a Pink Flight or two with the back of the Y cabin could bring in extra revenue without 'type-casting' the new airline?

Maybe, but not for much more than a handful of them. The Air NZ last year did quite well, they even filmed a bunch of stuff and showed it here in SF. Not sure it would work for any kind of extended period, though. It's just not the time to open new routes right now, I suppose.
