My experience: I signed up for a US VS Amex and had quite an ordeal getting miles/TPs credited appropriately and wound up having to switch my FC account to a US address to match the billing address of my card. If your billing address and your FC address don't match FC will open a new FC account for you, even if you have one existing. I am not sure how it would work if you were registering both cards to the same address - not sure if that is possible? I was told I was not eligible for a UK VS Amex b/c I am not on the electoral registry (not a UK citizen), despite the fact that I am a legal resident. Ridiculous and Amex themselves had no problem issuing a non-VS branded card. I do not know if you can apply for a US VS Amex using a foreign address.

The VS UK AmEx is not issued by AmEx but only branded an by AmEx. The VS UK AmEx is issued by MBNA.

The issuer is totally different hence not ridiculous.

I actually do know that and didn't fully explain myself as I was trying to keep my post from getting too lengthy. So here is where my ridiculous statement is coming from:

MBNA in T&C of the VS branded Amex say it is open to all UK residents, yet they would not even budge in considering us as we are not on the electoral register (which only a citizen would be on). They could not explain why they claimed to be open to all residents, but in reality wouldn't entertain a non-citizen legal resident application.

AmEx, on the other hand, didn't blink an eye at our non-citizen status and we received a platinum AmEx card practically overnight when we called to apply. What I think is ridiculous is MBNA refusing to even consider our application b/c of the electoral register thing, when their T&C clearly stated we were eligible for their card. That is how I wound up going for the US VS branded AmEx card instead. I must say, Bank of America, which issues that card, has terrific customer service, in my experience.

Sorry for the confusion of not fully explaining all of that originally. I am still curious to see if the original poster will be able to have both cards linked to a single flying club account.
