Sorry if this has been asked elsewhere but I'm new here (great site btw). If it has can you point me in the right direction.

Flying EWR - LHR Wednesday 11th March 2009 in UC

There are a couple of pics on the VA website but no other info.

So can anyone tell me

What hours is the lounge open?

What facilities are there?

What's the food like or should I wait till I board to eat?

Is it before or after security?

Are pax from other airlines admitted to the lounge?

Many thanks !

Welcome to V-Flyer.

There is a great deal of information within our 'four walls'. One way to find it is by use of our free Search feature, a quick check of which reveals, in response to your question, this informative thread.

I've been in the EWR lounge a number of times and while it is not even close to the LHR outpost, or JFK for that matter, it has a good menu, full bar, internet connection, lots of British newspapers. Can't beat that at the departure gate!

Again, welcome.

The lounge is located in Terminal B prior to security but close to where you need to be to go through security. Operating hours vary, however the Clubhouse is generally open at all times when Virgin flights are expected to depart. Virgin does have agreements with a few other airlines to permit those carriers' premium pax access to the VS Clubhouse, something that VS takes advantage of as well in cities where it does not currently operate its own Clubhouse.

While the current Clubhouse is not ranked among pax favorites (it's on the ground floor and has no windows) word on the street is that VS may have recently leased a new 6,300sf space in the same terminal in order to upgrade the Clubhouse.

Food options include a full dinner buffet or lighter bites, including bits and bites on a rolling cart that comes around to your seat. There is an excellent cheese, crackers and fruit display. On the dinner buffet you will find such treats as meat, fish or poultry and veggies/mash. I have seen soup there as well. The bar offers pretty much every drink known to mankind. The food is quite good and most pax who want to sleep right away after boarding will enjoy their dinner here. Free Internet works just fine and TV is available for those interested in catching news before boarding.

I hope this helps.

Another good way of getting info is to do a search.

To get best results - search for EWR, and select 'Virgin Atlantic trip reports' from the drop down menu in the Search Forum: field and make sure the Search by date is set to 'any date.'

You will see a list of TRs featuring EWR and you can then select the UC ones originating out of EWR to see various comments on the Clubhouse.

Thanks Chuck and Nick

I'm a v-flyer site virgin so am still finding my way around.

But still not a lot of info on the EWR lounge or if there is its not too recent.

I'll try and remember and take some pics and make some notes when I use it and post a review !
