...of transferring a Z fare? I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but wondered if anyone had any direct experience of managing it. We'd be looking to do a straight swap from 3 Zs on a BGI-LGW to a BGI-MAN flight 3 days later.

Well, they do say if you don't ask you don't get anything...

I would say slim to none, but give FC a call, as they seem to be combining the BGI flights you may actually be helping them by switching.

As Scrooge says, in theory the chances are next to nil. However, based on some random dates in July that I put in the VS website (3-10 July), it looks like the BGI flight from MAN is being operated by an Airbus A340-300, whereas the Gatwick flight is a B744.

If they are combining BGI flights then freeing up 3 UC seats on a 744 and taking 3 seats in the larger A343 UC cabin may help them a lot.

Gentlmen, you make a convincing argument. Problem is, will the bods at FC be aware of the situation with the LGW flights and realise that I'm trying to do them a 'favour'. Worth a try I suppose.

McM - we're flying out of MAN on a 343, so fingers crossed for V-Port on that one (assuming its actually working...).

Well, what do you know? They do say ask and thou shalt receive. A quick chat with those fine operatives at FC this afternoon, and we're now flying back to MAN instead of LGW, with 3 days extra holiday to look forward to.

Just the small matter of contacting the hotel in Barbados to let them know the good news (and to prepare ourselves for the cost of another 3 nights!).

Oooh, well done. It just shows that it pays to ask.

Now will we have part 2 of the Northern Bragathon?

I fear that in these austere times the Bragathon may well have gone the way of your local Woolies...

Cool, did you have to pay any fees for changing flights etc or was it all done FOC?

I wouldn't be so sure. These people deal in cash, cash, cash surely. Stacked under the mattress, ask no questions kind of thing.

No fees, just a straight swap. Mind you, as I booked these flights back in July - two months before the UC Caribbean sale started - I've already paid £2K over the odds, so VS haven't done too badly out of the deal.

Richard - cash is indeed cash (is cash), but with the state of the pound against the dollar the Northern Bragathon set will be seeing an awful lot less of Sandy Lane for their carrier bag of dirty £50 notes...
