Help with using miles

My OH has some 60k miles which expire this April. What can anyone recommend we use them for?

Living in Oz our VS route is fairly limited and any trip to HK would be in Upper and involves a trip to Sydney to join the flight and we would need to buy miles.

We have tried ANZ flights but these have to originate in NZ.

Are there any worthwhile partner programs we could swap into?

Suggestions gratefully appreciated - although we will not be gifting them away [}:)].

Interesting. Have you called VS? Most partners are between X and Y the miles cost is Z. The NZ details read differently. Worth a call as 60K miles would yield a nice weekend away in Business to NZ for two.

ISTBC but can you buy say, 1000 miles to keep your a/c active for the next 3 years if you so wish?
Or can you redeem them for partner hotel points which may be of more use to you?

That's the route I would go down, do a quick car rental and the miles are good for 3 more years, unless of course you really want to take a trip.

Decided to buy miles - so now have enough for 1 return UC trip to SYD-HKG and three years to use it.

Looked at using my DJ miles for a reward UC SYD-HKG and I was quoted 450,000-500,000[:0] but only 330,000 with EK.

Will just have to buy a discounted fare when we decide to travel.
