Maybe I've been unlucky, but the last two occasions I've been in the LHR Clubhouse I thought I'd left plenty of time. For example, arriving at LHR three hours before my flight. Still, no luck getting a haircut. The Clubhouse was busy on both occasions, but just how early do I need to get there??!?

I'm trying for 3.5 hours early tonight.... Lucky I'm balding.

Hmmm. 3 hours should be ample. However there seem to be fewer staff than there once were in the V.Touch salon. Of course, if VS reinstituted a booking system then this issue would not arise.

I've never understood why you can book at LGW and not at LHR..
I think VS should give you a voucher as they do inflight so that you'll get priority next time..

There used to be a booking system at LHR but apparently so many people cancelled/were late that it became useless.

However, if they operated on the basis that you could book in advance, and also kept a few slots free on the day, the worst that would happen would be more slots available when people did not turn up.

Or they could fine people 10,000 FC miles if they didn't use their appointemt ;) I suppose!

Well, all happy now. Got my few remaining hairs trimmed. Wow - it's been really quiet tonight - back to the way I remember it before I moved camps to BA. ;-)

Hi,

I have always flown out in the morning ( gereally to SFO/IAD) and when arriving at the Clubhouse at 3hrs prior I have always been seen to.

Maybe it is busier in the afternoon/evening.

Howard Long- Glad you got it this time.:)

I dont think theres a max amount of time in advance.
Just contact them and book a slot!

V-touch people start a bit later than the clubhouse opening times I guess they have to set up etc, and the LGW clubhouse closes @ around 1pm

Well the last time (before Friday to EWR) I'd used the LHR Clubhouse was about six weeks ago, and that was to IAD, and it was heaving. After the GF got her manicure, even she conceded that there are benefits to arriving with plenty of time if you're going to the Clubhouse. She still thinks I'm very retentive about arriving early although less so now! Of course, I can remind her about the time she forgot her passport and had to rush back home!

Just read elsewhere that I can get into the CH on my Amex Centurion card - looks like I've missed out on a lot of missed opportunities. Oh well.

Howard you can get in with a centurian card but not with a guest.
and I think this applies only to LHR if your a UK card holder

UK issued Centurion Card (Black coloured, with Multos chip and starting 3742 88) will grant you access to the family of VS Clubhouses - but its only for the holder of the card, no guests.

Obviously with a UK Centurion account you can get a main supplemtary issued in black plastic too, so they can gain access to the Clubhouse too.

Couple of notes before anyone asks:

a) You can't show your main Centurion (Black and called the basic card) card and then show your A.C Centurion (also black) card for the other guest - the name on the card must be the same as the name on the boarding card

b) Its access for the Clubhouses only, where VS has a shared lounge facility such as LAX, BOS etc - it will not grant you access. Fortuantely most of hte lounges that VS use under the shared agreement are part of Priority Pass so you will be able to gain access this way.

Thanks,
Richard

I still think it would be better if Virgin did what Continental do, i.e. have a paid club membership card for access to their lounges.

I can see why VS don't generally do this

They want to keep Clubhouses as a perk for UC pax and Gold Card Holders.

They do allow Pay per use at LGW..but this primarily serves B&S destinations
