Which UCS seats with Dividers

We are travelling a few times next year on aircraft that look to have the removable dividers on. I was wondering as the seatmap shows 4 sets of central 2 seats which pair of seats they are currently installed on so I can try to reserve these seats.

Also on the layouts where these are not available would you suggest the best seats are the ones in the nose next to eack other, row 6 I think.

The Search Facility should be able to help you to decide which seats are suitable for a couple. I believe that the divider is on all pairs of D and G seats on the relevant 744s.

Welcome to V-Flyer!

There is a thread here discussing the dividers, on page two of it is a link to Virgin's website with a pic of them.

I haven't seen the dividers, sat in them or anything so this comment is just my gut feeling. If you look at the picture and at the seatmap the backs of the seats are at 90o to each other facing in opposite directions. I'd be interested to hear from someone who has sat here with or without the dividers - how easy is it to talk to the person next to you without crinking your neck?

Earlier in the year Wolves27 and myself flew back in Row 6 from SFO. The seat ratings show these as being poor. Yes they do have some downsides compared to the other suites, but we found as a couple travelling these seats were great. We didnt have to crack our neck to talk and it was nice to be able to see each other to share the experience together - our first UC flight. And there was something very cool about being in the front row!

If you are concerned about Row 6 being a bit cramped Row 7 looked good too - you both get a window and ailse seat!

If I recall correctly, the VS blurb on these said you cannot pre book those seats, only at check in will they be allocated

We travelled back from SFO last week on VWOW. We'd already pre-booked 16 D & G and only found that they had removable dividers on the day. We were quite impressed - you're still angled away from each other, but it's a vast improvement on having to keep poking your head over the divide for a chat.

FWIW, a friend and I just flew MIA-LHR in 6A & 6K. While the seats were fine in terms of being able to chat freely, you are so close to the nose cone that you can actually hear the radar dome inside swooshing back & forth! At first we had no idea what the grinding, motor noise was, but then the FA confirmed my suspicions. Certainly wasn't a deafening sound, but loud enough to make a sound sleep rather difficult (despite the lovely flat bed). Perhaps I just should have had a few more glasses of champagne.

I booked my flight last weekend about two or three months prior to departure, and when I used the online booking updater, the central four rows (plus the bubble) were always greyed out - despite the rest of UC being 100% completely available, so I assumed that they were only bookable at check-in. I reserved 6A and 6K at the time of booking and stuck with them.

I've noticed in the J2000 configuration that the bulkheads are greyed out too when using the online booking updater.

When boarding on Sunday night, it was full. I took a good look at the four rows when I boarded, and it looked like most people flying there weren't couples - it was full of business types on their own returning after Thangsgiving.

I might try them next time I'm on a 747 - although you have to turn around fairly sharply to chat face to face when your seat's upright. When kipping, it looks like it might be quite a good deal - for some. In 6A & 6K the GF had to kick me for snoring, so I'd imagine I'd more likely get a punch in the face in the divider section

The seats in 6A and 6K are really quiet - there's no-one passing you. As has been noted by others, there is no overhead light so you have to use the little white LED light that's not really quite as good especially when trying to eat in the dark. The extra shelf area in front in the corner is quite nice to pop things on, especially as there are no overhead lockers in the pointy bit. To squeeze these two seats in, the ottomans are slightly mis-shaped here, so sitting on them to have dinner with a partner might leave you with a butt in a V shape - perhaps that's the point!
