I am travelling LAX-LHR-SYD in J. All flights in UCS on VS for now. Should I switch one or more flights to SQ J. I have flown SQ J but never VS J. I suspect that VS J with UCS is far better than SQ J with inclined seat. Do you agree?

SQ J is great, the service is simply sublime, but the seat was designed by a sadist. If you prefer service, then SQ, if you want to sleep, VS IMHO

Hi ColinN & welcome to V-Flyer

Hmmm, tough decision - the service in SQ J is absolutely fantastic (as good as VS service can be, it still beats it though it's not as friendly). The seat in SQ J is a variant of the J2000 model that was in VS J pre-UCS (and still is on the A343). This in itself isn't a terrible thing, but the UCS is much better for sleeping.

Cheers

That is a tough decision- the crew in J on SQ are just fantastic! But if you did change to SQ it will mean that you will have to do LHR-SIN-HKG in J on SQ or HKG-SIN-SYD in J with SQ. Will mean a stopover in SIN- up to you but i would go all the way with one or the other!

ColinN,
Firstly Welcome to V-Flyer!:D

If your Traveling RTW in J I personally would try SQ for a leg that way you can compare.

If I was doing a great escapade I would use SQ/VS only as you get better Tier points than Air New Zealand; routing permitting of course!

Yes it's a variant, but it is significantly better. Fully flat but at a very slight angle (I know that doesn't amke sense but I cant think of a better way to describe it[?])

Hmmm, IMHO I didn't find it significantly better at all - the seat covering was better, but the functionality/flatness of the seat itself seemed much as I remember it on VS. Of course, as usual, YMMV ;)

Have to agree with Mcuth, I am a massive SQ fan, but the J class spacebed product is simply very uncomfortable to sleep in. I am sure it will only be a matter of time before they are forced to 'catch up' with BA and VS.

As I posted previously, the service on SQ is fantastic, but after the first couple of hours when you want to to sleep, the seat becomes all

Yes the service on SQ in J is sublime but the spacebed isn't the best.

I would stick with VS - the added bonus is the limo service. Actually I have yet to fly UCS but that will happen next year.
