As has been discussed, VS007 & 008 will cease to be operated by the 747-400 on 29th October (we are still not sure if this is a permanent or just seasonal change). Well up until Friday last the VAA website was showing the 007-8 aircraft as type A340-300 non suite. As of today, 2nd May, (after my flight disappeared for a couple of days [:0]) the site now correctly showing the A340-600 suite config.

I would suggest anyone with bookings after that date on the 007-8 recheck their seat assignments ASAP. ;)

Bazz,

I'd heard you discussing this equipment change awhile back. You knew about the change when you booked your VS7/8 return, correct? Are you flying UC on this trip? What seats do you recommend?

Daft question, but where on VAA website can you see the scheduled aircraft for a flight?

Thanks

Hi Chuck,

When we do LAX we have always (well apart from once but that was due to my ignorance) take the 007-8 flights because we both love the 747-400.

Yes I knew the 747-400 was coming off that route but didn't know exactly when or what equipment would be used. I assumed it would need to be a suited 340-600 because I didn't believe the LAX-LHR pax would take kindly to two 340-300's per day with no suites! I was surprised when we booked to be told it was the 340-300 but some enquiries settled my nerves. I have been checking the VS website almost daily waiting for the config to change.

Our outbound (007) on the 1st November will be in UC and will be our first time in UCS on a 340-600. I have chosen 8A & 9A; they are the last two suites before the curtain that separates the 'snooze zone' from the rest of the cabin. They face the back of the middle row of suites, in fact 8A faces a closet.

I thought they were good because no one is opposite and they are far enough away from the bar (but not too far ;)) not to be bothered by the noise, no heads, and reasonable ratings in the 'Seat Ratings' section.

Hope this helps?

Barry.

You need to be able to input reservation details to see the seat plan for a particular flight.

Bazz,
Of course, I had an ulterior motive for my question: wanting to see how much you like the 340 in UCS.

It would have been interesting to have been one of the first (relatively) on a suited 340-300 but I am pleased it will be the 600. I would still rather they had retained the 747-400 on the 007-8 but I guess they will all go over to Airbus metal eventually [:0]
