It would appear you are correct. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day and I shall be raising a glass of Champagne to thank God, Baby Jesus, and the FA for delivering us of that white-livered runagate.

SOme quick thoughts.

1. McClaren has gone (apparently he is running away to Barbados in UC on VS to hide out either that or to his home up in Stockton) He was told he was no longer required at 10.40pm last night.
2. The only player on the pitch who played with an ounce of passion for the whole game was Peter Crouch. Where was the passion from Gerrard? Lampard? Richards? Cole? Bridge?
3. Dont all blame Carson. The guy has been a fantastic goaly at Under 21 level and also played really well for VIlla and Liverpool. McClaren's fault- he should have picked James at the end of the day.

The team over the 12 games did not deserve to go through at all. The FA need to look hard at this. English football needs to be sorted out from the grassroots and up.

The facts remain that in 60 years of organised international football- England have only ever made one major international final and even that was on home soil and we won due to a goal that didn't cross the line.

Factually incorrect - the score was 4-2. You might debate whether or not the last goal would have been scored if ENgland had not been ahead but the fact remains that the disputed goal was not the ultimate deciding factor.

Look on the bright side, at least we won't have our hopes raised and then experience a quarter or semi final loss on penalties again.

Then again I'd take West Ham winning any silverware over England winning the World Cup or European Championship. Cant stand the 'God save our queen / Land of hope and glory / English by the grace of God' mentality of the supporters..... And yes I have travelled abroad with England many times in the past and these form the majority of the supporters not the minority - sadly

Well it you could argue that it was. If it hadn't have been allowed England may not have scored a 4th.

Anyway my point was that we are rubbish at international football and as a result our failure should not be treated as a shock.
