Utter nonsense = not agreeing with you[ii]

Now c'mon, Neil. You're just upset 'cause he didn't include Hull in his list of downmarket B&S destinations...

Well, it's a been long time since anyone's left the forum in a strop, isn't it[;)]?

It is a pity you feel that way, as it is never pleasant when people turn their back on the site in a huff.

Having said that, I feel it is difficult to have any empathy with you.

You put forward a point of view, and invited debate on it. People put forward their opinions, none were insulting or demeaning; but the majority disagreed with you. The debate was interesting and well conducted.

Having found that you are in a minority, you are now walking away.

IMHO. Part of the fun of V-Flyer is the ability to argue and debate. Respecting other people's opinions, whilst not necessarily agreeing with them is the bedrock of civilised argument. Toys flying from prams when you find yourself in a minority, isn't!

That is my view, but you are, of course, free to disagree. [;)][:D]

O dear in innocently using a term I seem to have opened a whole can of worms. [:w]

But it now seems I am too late to join in the debate[?]

So as to avoid restating the views of Decker, Mdivpond et al I will keep it brief.

B&S is an industry phrase, just like Y is used for Economy, CC is used for cabin crew, 744 is used for a Boeing 747-400 and so on. The great thing about this site is that it is not just for the consumer, its combination of frequent flyers, future frequent flyers, industry workers and the enthusiast. It is inevitable that industry terms will be used.

Offence should not be taken from it. To me it brings up images of young families going away on holiday complete with the Tigger cuddly toy as apposed to business men still trying to use their blackberries once the doors have closed on a flight.

What Nick said with the rider that I'm guessing you didn't recognise the gratuitous Pam Ann reference in the M&S ad spoof as this was the only bit of my reply which could conceivably be seen as a wind up. Oh dear, it seems that this thread has meant that V-Flyer has lost a member/contributor who may or may not return. [?]

Anyway it's none of my business, so time to add my thoughts...

I'm a neutral when it comes to using B&S as derogatory or non-derogatory term, because it is an industry term which has been embraced by people using forums. I suppose it could cause offence if it is used in the wrong way or worded in a way designed to be derogatory, and this would usually come from those who don't travel on B&S routes and/or nearly always travel in a cabin other than Economy and has let a bit of snobbishness get to their heads, which therefore results in posts being biased.

If people do think that way then fair enough, but I always feel that if you have a comment which is going to cause offence (be it in the majority or minority) then don't bother posting it, and save yourself from being flamed and getting a tarnished reputation on a message board.
