Question for any twitchers out there???

Do you know what sort of bird this is?

He is larger than a Mallard, but a lot smaller than a Goose.

Donald, as we call him, is very tame and will take food (cake, sandwiches etc) from you hand if offered.

Having looked in books, I am still unable to locate a breed.

Before I go any further I'am no 'Twitcher'[:o)]

ISTBC but it looks like it could be a Golden Eye duck there are two types and cant remember the other ( Barrows or Bows Golden Eye )

Yeah that looks like a Muscovy, maybe a cross-breed with a Mallard from looking at the picture as they do interbreed. Very sweet, though you shouldnt really feed him cake. [:)]

I must agree he is very similar to a Muscovy and I think the answer is probably a cross breed.

Ducks can get to be very tame if you regularly feed them and they are reassured that you are not attempting to harm them. When i used to work in Watford, our local luncheon pub was situated by a canal and the ducks there were very tame and would come up to the picnic tables outside and allow you to pet them.
