So many [:)]. The annoying thing is that because there is now a 10 day lag between the US and the UK I cannot go near Lostpedia in order to vent them.
Ben's flashforward very nicely filled in some blanks and (as always) posed a few new ones - why was Sayid's wife killed? The nice thing is that we were given a time reference point - Oct 2005 so we know it was around 10 months in the future (the current Island happenings are around the end of 2004).
The events on the island were also interesting and a little shocking if truth be told. Anybody's guess on what's happening on the boat but I assume the time distortion is in play which is why no contact - apart from the Morse code so ably translated by Bernard.

I wonder if Ben had a part to play in that, in order to get Sayid to become his hitman. The little smile Ben gave after Sayid said he wanted to work for him made me think that.
Can we assume that Ben somehow can time travel, after all how did he arrive in the Sahara with no foot tracks in the sand? HE even lied to Sayid about how he got to Iraq.

I originally thought the boat didn't know the doctor was dead due to the time lapse but that can't be correct. It is now becoming clear that the helicopter dropped off the soldiers, Faraday, Miles and the woman, can it be presumed the non military personnel are there to run experiments on the island (of course this all changed when the chopper crashed).

Never thought of that - however Ben seemed genuinely surprised to see him on the news and had only just arrived at the Tunisian hotel at the time. Since Sayid's wife was killed in LA this might have taken a considerable detour and Ben would probably have been sure of the date if he had gone via LA - I thought that maybe his wife was killed in order to induce Ben into making an appearance, but even that seems not entirely plausible.

Not sure about the time travel issue. The island obviously exists within a temporal shift but for the most part this shift seems to be fixed. What has been established is that the island sucks people in - certainly across space and probably across time - therefore I would think that Ben (possibly aided by Jacob) can reverse this and throw people the other way - obviously the results are unpredictable so Ben cannot be sure where he ends up - it would also, I assume, be a one way trip. It also throws open the possibility that others will have been 'thrown out' in a similar way. I guess the time travel argument is given weight as Ben has to check the date on arrival at the hotel.

ooo you bring up some good points- i love it!
That is true. Maybe Widmore has made a massive error by killing Sayids wife and thus getting Sayid to work for Ben.
So the island throws people out. What is unclear is what exactly BEn wanted to do in Tunisia, after all he had a reservation at the hotel. He must have wanted to get to Tunisia. Upon seeing Sayid on TV his plans changed.
What was also interesting was why on earth was he wearing a winter coat. And a winter coat with a new Dharma logo on it.

Wow - sensory overload - I think I need to watch the season finale again. So many questions answered and a great rounding up of the first story but a wonderful introduction into what the the last two seansons are going to be about and a major shock in the last shot of the episode.
How did everyone else find it. Are we overall satisfied and are we going to tune in for next season?
