b) Everyone keeps guessing a little longer, and stops 'assuming' product launches.

But then, when v1 was annouced that was done what, 6 months before it was actually available to purchase? Just over a month isn't too bad as it is a good amount of hype time for the new device. You could easily do a sustain campaign over that period. 6 months was an initial huge wave, quieten down and then another spike around launch. As for point a) and b) - I thought that was all part of the Apple 'culture' and 'ecosystem' [:w]
