While I'm one for backing any action that brings down fuel prices for all, this *current* one is all about salaries.
OK, fine. People (as we all know [ii]) have a right to strike about pay. But today, I have to say I'm absolutely shocked.
It seems these tanker drivers are hardly 'bread-lining' in the first place! The offer they've just rejected is worth 41,500 per year (SALARY) if they work overtime. Indeed, even the union have conceded that without working overtime, the deal that's been REJECTED is worth a base salary of 36,000.

Now I know this may sound a little rude, but 40k salary for a tanker driver? And that's not enough? [:0]
Please, someone, help me understand why I should feel sympathy for their 'plight'? [:?]
