Huge pride here too.
Can I just add a word of congratulations for the BBC website coverage which has been a constant companion playing in the background in the last week and a half.
I missed so much of the Athens game four years ago - lucky to catch the highlights each day. No such problem this time.

Thats the great thing about this years Olympics that we havent really had before; the amazing coverage on the Internet and BBC iPlayer. We have been watching the highlights each night and I try and pop in to the live coverage during the day as we are streaming it in the office.
Thanks,
Sarah

That is true although I have felt the beeb have forgotten about writing articles! I have taken some time off to watch the olympics and have often go onto BBC Sport to read an article on said gold medal only to find they want me to watch a video of it and there is no written report! I also have felt the coverage has not been too good on other nations and the minor Olympic sports which I had friends competing in (Hockey, BEach Volleyball).

I am so glad I am not the only one who has noticed this, as we tend not to have sound on in our office, having to watch a video is pretty pointless. I have been using the skysports website for my Olympic info, much better.

Being overseas we do not have access to regular BBC, only World and Prime which have very little Olympic coverage.
So I rely on the website for updates but we cannot even stream the Video's due to restrictions on broadcast rights[:(!]
Eurosprt however has a decent coverage so all is not lost

Thats a big problem the BBC have. The IOC only issue broadcasting rights for a country. Therefore the BBC cannot place Olympic pictures on any of their overseas channels. Certainly my parents are fed up by the pants coverage of NBC in the US.
There was an interesting article written on this by the head of BBC World a couple of weeks ago. It will be the same for London as well unless the BBC is given a EUrosport type of contract.

Apart from Tennis I really am not in to sport one bit, but I have to say I feel proud for the people taking part, how refreshing to be able to be proud for a change, I hope people respect them when they come back home and don't go back to doom n gloom once the lights go out in the stadium.

having just come back from States was quite surprised to see that there is actually more than one country competing in these games! And there are more sports than swimming, gymnastics and beach volley ball!
Lynne,

I agree they have improved but still not that great.
I now wish to change my highlight of the Games.
It is officially Usain Bolt's 200m run. I have been following this guys results since he ran in the 2002 World Junior's in Jamaica. At the time he was more a 200/400 runner and I had a little wager with a friend that he would be world record holder in the 400 and 200 by Beijing. Sadly I was wrong but what a talent. To para phrase a former Olympian 'He has made track and field sexy once again!'

It did amuse me, being in the US last week, to see that all the Olympics coverage ranks countries in the medals table by number one, not by most golds won as in every other country - I wonder why, ooops, that'll be it, it puts the USA first not second!
Like others, the beeb.com has been a little disappointing with its liking for commentary-less video clips ...
There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

I VPN into a server in the UK, and Bob's a relative by way of being the sibling of one of my parents .....
Not likely an option available to all, but works like a charm.
