Can't give you a specific recommendation but can I just say (if you've not been there before) that you've chosen a SUPERB place to go!

Hi EGG

JAT74L is right, Key West is beautiful, especially at sunset.

I've only eaten at the Hard Rock Cafe there, but I imagine you are looking for something more fitting for the occasion.

One local delicacy I can recommend is the 'chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick'.If you have a sweet tooth, you'll love it.

Here are a couple of places to look at...

This require a quick boat ride to get to

http://www.sunsetkeyisland.com/food.htm
http://www.antoniaskeywest.com/

Hope that helps, Key West is not a place I have stayed in for dinner much. If your driving down there there is a great little restaurant to stop at for lunch just after Marathon Key, don't ask me the name of it, but as your leaving the key before you hit the bridge you have to back track down a gravel road, it is next to a restaurant called the Stuffed pig.

Egg I highly recommend www.sarabethskeywest.com

Doesn't look fantastic from the website but it's small and intimate in the evening and any fish dish is superb.

The host David Case will be more than happy to make your evening very special with his personal service.

Egg for really nice restaurant on Christmas Day try (these good for Christmas Day and a 50th):

Louie's Backyard - good food, nice place, good bar, by the sea
Antonia's - which I love, is one of the more upscale
Cafe Marquesa - lovely dining room, also upscale
Michael's - for steak and a great wine list and a great greeter!
Latitudes on Sunset Key (part of the Westin resort) and a nice little boat ride from the harbour (here is great on the beach itself, but can be cool if breezy)

Have loads more but for a celebration I'd consider one of the above!

We attended a cousin's wedding down in Key West June '07 & had lunch on one of our days there at Sarahbeths & it was very nice indeed.

The Wedding day dinner was held at 'Square One' & was very, very good indeed.

I would highly recommend it [y]

Glad you liked it, I always found it over rated - though the cocktails are very good and there's a much better place over the road, sushi, more like a cafe but excellent (btw Egg, not for your celebrations!).

This place was pretty good

http://www.cafesole.com/

odd complaint about the service on some sites, everyone rates the food very good. Was one of the two best meals we had out there, the other being our obligatory venture to a cuban restaurant.

Ate here a few years ago at the recommendation of the B&B owner and it was superb.

Quite small and intimate, struck me as a 'locals' spot and not touristy at all. I'd go back in a shot!

I hesitated about recommending seven fish - I agree it's fabulous, know the owners and went there in its first year. But it's not (IMO) a celebration or Christmas Day place, a bit to casual for that (and no liquor!).
