NFL @ Wembley

Hi, don't know if anyone can help, maybe our friends from across the pond!

I've bagged tickets for the NFL game at Wembley on 26th Oct. I'm currently trying to get my train tickets sorted and to take advantage of the Advance tickets, I need to book a return time from Paddington.

I'm a veteran NHL/MLB spectator and know roughly the duration of those games but this is the first time I've gone to an NFL game. I was thinking the game would be around 3-4 hours long (with the pre-match show) but is this a fair assumption?[:?][:?]

I went to see the 49ers play at Monster Park last November. I arrived at 12:00 for the pre-show. It was a 1:15 kick off and the game finished just before 4:00

Now the big question, which NHL team ?

We are taking Pete ([oo]) and his better half to an Avalanche v Kings games at the end of this month, the poor saps have no idea what they are in for [y]

For those of you that have never been to an NHL game, think of a loud football stadium, just enclosed, with less decorum [y]

Oh FFS [:#] the Chargers and Saints are NFL teams, not NHL which are Hockey teams...think rugby, but on ice skates, carrying big sticks [y]

I'm a long suffering Blackhawks fan (also I follow Swindon Wildcats in the UK), ever since they came over to London back in the early 90's. I've been over to the US to see a few games. The best game (for atomsphere) that I've been to, was Caps v Pens in Washington, it was electric, intimidating and at times scary. It was the only time, that I've ever known, where the US National Anthem was booed!.

I have yet to go to the new Wembley, but my first visit will be to see the NFL Game this year as well[y][y]

The game is scheduled to start at 5pm so that would make the finish around 9, but getting away from the Stadium is likely to be controlled to prevent crowding at the stations.

Even though I live on the outskirts of London, I am seriously considering staying in town overnight.

Just a note about leaving the Stadium. I was amazed at how well it all runs, we were there in May for the Play Off Final and my Parents 2 weekends ago for the Rugby final and the organisation is 1st class. We walked straight out of Wembley, all the way down Wembley way without stopping, straight into the stadium, on to a waiting tube and away within 2 mins of getting on the tube. Everyone else I spoke to had pretty much the same experience, even those driving who parked nr the stadium got away without any problems/hold ups.

They are obviously well designed and rehearsed for large events so I really wouldn't worry too much about problems getting away/at the stations.

The stadium itself is VERY impressive btw.

I went to Wembley for the first 'proper' event back in Feb 07 (Eng u21 v Italy u21) and I thought that the dispersal procedures were very good going to Wembley Park. I'm trying the Wembley Stadium mainline station this time to see what that's like.
