3 are one of the few networks that offers mobile broadband as PAYG plus they have the largest 3G network coverage in the UK.

Been looking at one of these for sometime now. The basic modem was reduced to 39.99 the other week. Not sure how long it will stay at 29.99 though. If you buy via Quidco you also get 11.00 cashback. Seems a bargin for only 18.99 [:D]

I bought one a while ago as I was moving and needed the interweb. It was fine during the day, but after 5pm, it was so useless, I could hardly connect and speeds were terrible when it did work.

The 29.99 offer has now expired as the basic PAYG modem is back to 39.99.

I only plan to use this when I'm out and about with my lap-top so I wont be using that much data anyway.

One alternative is to look and see if you have any inclusive data on your phone for internet and use bluetooth or USB to connect.

Just remember to look at the cost of going over any free limit or when roaming. The cost can be astronomical - in the US, 10+ per MB!!!!

It's not going to be used anywhere international, although you get much cheaper roaming rates with 3 in counties where the 3 network is used (Hong Kong for example)

I have an 3G iPhone, so tethering it to a PC is officially against O2's T & C's. Although it's very easy getting a UMTS dongle unlocked, especially the one I've just bought [:w]
