Closest hotel to Heathrow T3.

Hi guys, first topic posted here, so go easy on me!

In April my family and I are travelling to LAX from LHR, and this is only the second time that we have been to Heathrow, being from far up North. Last time, we stayed at the Hilton the night before the flight, which was fine, but a little bit too far. Just wondering if there is anything nearer to T3 that's also very nice? Price isn't really an issue here.

It's also my brothers birthday that night, so we want to go somewhere that has a nice restaurant and bar area for us to celebrate, and allow him to have his last alcoholic beverage on solid ground, being only 19.

Welcome. No biters here just a bunch of helpful VS afficianados. When flying out of LHR we have a bit of a ritual in that we eat at the fab Indian in Sipson ( the Achari)the night before we fly.Walkable from the Holiday Inn (M4) and just about walkable from the Crowne Plaza / Novotel.Most LHR hotels are OK (you're not going to there very long).There are a few pubs in Sipson too for pre/post drinks (but the Achari has a nice bar too).Are you flying down (don't know how far 'far up North ' is) or are you looking to book a car too?

The only 'on site' hotels at LHR are:

Hilton - T4
Yotel - T4
Sofitel - T5 (useful if your arriving at LHR off a BA flight)

So they are all about the same distance from T3.

Not tried any of these but the Sofitel does look nice [:)]

The favourite V-Flyer watering hole and eating establishment in the Heathrow area - in fact, the venue of the first ever V-Flyer social MANY moons ago, is the Pheasant, which is in easy walking distance of several of the Bath Road hotels.

The menu is quite varied and the portions are not for the faint hearted. The licensee is Ricky, who is well aware of V-Flyer.

Certainly gets my vote whenever we are staying down there the night before a flight.

If you haven't booked a hotel in the Heathrow area, then Holiday Extras is a good starting point.

Coming from Newcastle by train and then grabbing a taxi I believe, so we won't be looking to book a car.

The Radisson Edwardian has a reasonable bar 'Polo Bar' and we have found the restuarant 'Henleys' to be very good.They have some very nice suites that can be reserved on packages inc 15 days parking, return car transfers to terminal 3,breakfast and a bottle of fizz.

I have stayed at the hilton a fair few times and Sofitel twice when I have a short night between flights - both are excellent but the Sofitel gets my thumbs up - its brand new, connects to TS (ideal for an early BA flight) and the luxury rooms are fantastic. Not tried the restuarants as I tend to use room service when dining alone.

The Premier Travel Inn can be good value. Decent rooms without all the pretencions of being a 'luxury' hotel.

If staying on a Fri, Sat or Sunday night you can get some good deals on rooms and parking.

If you've not got to worry about parking a car, sometimes it's quicker to stay at the Hilton at London Paddington and take the Heathrow Express to LHR - you also get the benefit of being in London the previous day/evening.

It can sometimes take longer than 15 minutes to get into the terminal complex on the Hotel Hoppa bus.

I just checked a random day in April on http://www.hilton.co.uk and got rates from 89 a night.

If you've got to park a car, you can often get good room deals which include parking from some of the airport hotels.

I'd second staying at Paddington. Stayed at the Sheraton couple of weeks ago. tiniest of windows in the rooms, although they were quite nice. What I didn't like was having to pay for what is normally a curteousy shuttle bus. VERY unhappy Bus to T3 was around 17-20 mins

There's on airport hotels like the Hilton, then there's the rest on the Bath Road which are a 5 - 15 min hoppa ride away!

Park Inn is closet to the tunnel, very lush when i stayed there. Radisson Edwardian is nice (Molton Brown toileteries no less!) and both the Sheratons are great. In fact barring th Ibis, they're all pretty decent and not far at all!!

I think most of the 3/4* hotels on Bath Road are all very similar. If you have no particular brand loyalty then I would just look on Holiday Extras like Nick suggested and find the cheapest and go with it. The Hoppa if you choose to use it is ok, although as already mentioned there are 'cheaper' ways to get to the airport.

I echo Nick's comments, Holiday Extras or Superbreaks are a good starting point.

Have a look at the mystery hotels, you often can work out which they are by the resturants offerings. Last time I was at LHR, we paid 95 for the mystery hotel which turned out to be the Sheraton Skyline (5*) and 15 days parking from Superbreaks.

We stayed at he Park Inn last month and were far less than impressed so I would NOT recommend that one.

first of all welcome to V-Flyer . we always use the Renaissance that is the only hotel with runway views if your so inclined and you can get a free london transport bus into the airport central area and terminal 3 (about 5 mins transfer time) as for eating I second Nick's suggestion of the pheasant always good food at good prices and about a 10 min walk each way.

Oh dear... I'm booked in here the night before I fly to JFK to start my honeymoon.

Is it really bad? I still have time to cancel if it is. I only chose it because with the honeymoon stay, they offer unlimited parking and a chauffeur driven car to the airport and back.

I have stayed there a couple of times, booked through Holiday extras, but not for a couple of years. They used to do a deal which included a buffet / carvery evening meal, which was really good.

Overall I had no complaints about the hotel - most of them along the Bath Road are pretty much of a muchness. We h try and stay at the Marriott or the Sheraton Skyline now, as they are in easy walking distance of the Pheasant, and usually do good parking inclusive deals.

We have stayed at the Park Inn too, certainly not a terrible hotel and no worse than the majority on the Bath Road. Everyone's expectations and circumstances are always different so just enjoy the hotel for what it is: a place to sleep before you go on holiday.

I'm looking at staying overnight the night before Boston, just can't be bothered with travelling to Heathrow with suitcase on the same day as the flight. Found Jury's Inn at 49 with Booking.com and Jurys website direct.

Travelodge T5 (5mins away via hoppa bus) and Travelodge LHR central (on Bath room) currently offering rooms for 19.
