My last trip with Virgin was nearly 3 years ago, an both my and ny fiancee's accoutn will expire in May.

As we have about 20,000 air miles each, we do not wish this to close.

What is the best way to keep it open?

(i) what if I just bought 1,000 miles from their website (approx 30 I think) - would this keep me my miels for another 3 years?

(ii) the other option is a Virgin Atlantic Credit Card - would spending on this keep my points alive?

(iii) if the CC is the only option, am I eligible for a Virgin Atlantic CC if I already have a standard Virgin Money CC??

(iv) is there any way of having my fiancee's air miles t ransferred on to my account so they are all in one place?

Many thanks everyone :-)

Any activity in your account will keep it open for the next three years. That could be buying miles as you have suggested, or a flight or hotel stay in any of VS's partners, or buying wine, or car hire, whichever suits you best.

Spending on the VS credit card will also keep them alive but others have more experience over the card than I do.

You cannot transfer miles to another person's account. The only time that is possible is a Supplementary Silver Account for Gold card holders.

Hope this helps

How about buying a case of wine from virgin wines - for a first order of say 50-60 you will get 12 bottles of wine and 3000 miles. This will extend your miles for a further 3 years althought I'm sure the wine won't last as long.

Cheers

The wine route is a good idea, especially as there is usually some offer on. I got my first case for less than 30 pounds when I first signed on and got the 3000 miles.

Just make sure you go through the http://www.virginwines.co.uk/earnmiles route if buying online or, if by phone, quote 'I Fly'

Ad, If I were you, I'd go with the case of wine to quickly top up the miles (slightly more expensive than buying miles but you do get a lot of wine) then look at taking out the white Virgin AmEx. It wont cost you anything as there are no yearly fees and gets you 1 mile per 1 spent. You can easily top up your accounts that way. If you and your fiancee both take out the card you may soon have enough miles to put towards an upgrade for your next flight.

Thanks,
Sarah

Another option is to buy petrol via Texaco (you can then convert star points into miles).
